It's a mixed rumor at best but I agree we will all find out at the April Bash. My gut is that it WILL be offered.

I think your gut is wrong. Tadge has said on multiple occasions it is Z06 only for 2015 and the 2nd, 3rd and 4th largest dealer corvette specialists also confirmed, I asked them.

Sure, no one knows for sure but the cards are stacked against the A8 in anything other than a Z06, at least in the first half of the production year.

Untrue. Tadge nor anyone else from GM has said it will not be in the 2015 c7. He simply stated they have a lot on their plate. I am sure that is no different than any other day. It's interesting how many current 6 Spd owners want to keep interpreting his work load comment as a no! If Tadge has already said NO then please post it! I will be surprised if you can post anything I haven't already read. As for the corvette specialist they seldom know up from down and they too are operating on opinion and not fact. We will ALL find out later in April. My opinion stands.

I really see no gain from it. The manual guys are claiming the mileage is WORSE in 7th than driving in 6. I'm thinking we will see much more hunting and shifting of gears with it just like in their sedanswith 6 sp autos.

Say what?? I'm a manual guy and that's just NOT true. I suppose if you are going up a grade at a low speed in 7th it may be true but on a level highway at 65-70, I could not disagree more. I've compared both 6th and 7th to see and that statement holds no water in my book.

I'm not an A6 owner nor would I every consider owning a C7 with the A6, I have ordered an M7.

I asked people who have spent time with the Corvette team and have known the people on the Corvette team for years, some for decades. Every one said not to count on the A8 till 2016 in the full line, that's all I was conveying.

To me it makes no sense to hold back the A8 for all 2015's unless there are some calibration issues they can't get worked out before the August build time frame. They have been building the trans for a few months and could quite easily switch over production from the A6 based Corvette trans to the A8 but every source that should know is saying no to me in person (not on an Internet forum).

Besides, even if I were to consider it I would need to see numerous reviews and drive it myself. I was a huge skeptic of the Porsche PDK until I drove it. So far the only comment we have heard is the A8 will upshift faster than the PDK under WOT and that's great but that's not really the shift point I care about. I'm far more interested in how quickly it responds to input in all situations, especially rapid, multi gear downshifts.

Maybe I'll trade my 2014 on a 2016 if the gearbox is all it's claimed to be. Till then I'll enjoy the hell out of my M7 2014.

Fairly stated......and your sources may end up being correct. I sure as hell don't pretend to know. I will be ordering my 2015 Z51 as soon as the order guide comes out and I am currently number 1 on the list with a top 7 volume dealer. In all honesty, if the 8 spd does come out it will be my biggest and hardest decision because I really like the M7 I test drove.....plus I like the fact you only have to worry about it sliding into 4 cyl. mode when set in ECO. In some ways I hope your spot on. It would sure make my decision a lot easier.

I went through the same angst trying to decide to order a 2014 for June delivery or be high on the list and get a 2015 in September. I finally decided that even if it is offered in the 2015 I need to wait and see how it performs before I order it meaning I would be waiting till September to even put in an order, meaning a November delivery, I can't wait that long

I decided to do the M7 now and worry about it in a couple years when it's been out for a while and I've had time to form a conclusion.

Besides, my wife said it's not a sports car without a clutch

As a whole, C7 A6 owners are not interpreting his comments any differetly than anyone else. As I mentioned in an earlier conversation, I'll have my C7 with A6 in about week, will be enjoying the heck out of it and won't care what the transmission is in the 2015s, just like the thousands of other A6 owners. If people read enough threads you'll see that we're good with our decision.

I thought exactly the same thing when I bought my 2012 Jeep SRT8 with the NAG1 5 speed until I drove the 2014 with the ZF 8 speed. That transmission literally changed the entire driving dynamic of the vehicle.

Don't underestimate the transmission's contribution to the overall driving dynamic of the car. If GM does this right the magazines and blogs will fall all over this just like they did when Porsche introduced the PDK. Sure, other companies beat Porsche to market with dual clutch or sequential auto/manuals but the Porsche implementation has been the only one where even died in the wool purists reported second thoughts.

The Corvette has improved every year since 1953, and that won't change. People accept that. Corvette owners understand the dynamic effect a transmission has, yet thousands decided to purchase the A6 now. When the A8 is released we will continue to enjoy our C7s just as much. As history shows, some people will eventually trade in their C7s for newer C7s, but the vast majority will keep the C7 they have and be perfectly content with the features it came with.

The C7 was a "hit" from the day it was released. Nothing is going to take the smiles off C7 owners faces, regardless of which version we own.
