Default A used 2014 C7 and it's faults

Still shopping for the right C7. Tell me again.... what are the down sides to buying a 2014 over the following years? I remember it was an electronic issue? The audio system was it?

Please remember that because a few owners here and there had a problem, that doesn't necessarily represent all 2014's. In fact, if you read all the posts about the 2014 model, most are very positive. I own a 2014 and have never had any issues with it. Good luck on your search.

X2. Extremely happy with mine. Fully loaded 3lt M7 Vert and glad I went that route.

No front cameras, no power hatch pull down, no Android Auto or Apple Car play. Technically the smart phone integration can be fixed for around $1k if desired. There are also some other small things like the NPP having Stealth mode and some updates to the display gauges in Track mode. Minor stuff really. I wish my 2014 had the hatch pull down, its the only thing that annoys me. Sure those other electronic toys would be nice but I wanted a loaded Z51 and that put a 2014 in my price range.

No downside really to the 2014 looks to be one of the more trouble free years.

Pretty much generally agreed that the 2014s are the most trouble-free of the C7's. Unusual for the first year of a new generation, but that's the fact.

2014s are arguably the most trouble-free ot the entire C7 model run. Probably the most area of concern would be the dash if purchasing the 3LT trim level.
Good luck.

I believe most were fixed under warranty including mine. They seemed to happen fairly quickly and were warrantied from what I've read.

If you go with a AUTO remember it’s a A6 not A8 and maybe that’s good, not A8 shutter issues. M7 doesn’t matter.

OK maybe that is what is stuck in the back of my mind. Which area was it? Dash cluster, Info screen?

I agree
I had the convertible 1lt. No issues for 6 years. Some people bought the 2015 because of the A8. They probably found out it was a waste.

OK There is my answer, thanks. If I ended up with a bad screen do you happen to know the replacement costs?

Yes a blue wire can become damaged as the screen moves up & down over time leading to the screen flickering or going completely dark. I would label this a risk on any C7... its just the 2014 seems more sensitive. Since the screen is known to get stuck trapping items behind I just don't use mine.

I have had my 2014 for 2.5 years now and the only problem area has been the infotainment screen - it was flickering data across the screen and would occasionally go blank. Local Chevy dealer replaced the screen (under extended warranty) as well as the bezel that goes around the shifter (A6) - it broke during the repair. Total cost, parts and labor, was $1300 (over $300 was just for that bezel). My cost - $0.

The car is a hoot to drive, even with the A6 and I do not regret the purchase at all. If you go with a ‘14, have it checked out just like you should any other used vehicle and if available, see about an extended warranty. Good luck.

Early production 2014’s had the screen flicker issue. The unit was revised. Last year I bought a 14 with 4K on it and it developed the screen flicker. I replaced it for $500. I much prefer the A6 transmission over the A8.

Almost zero. The downside is no front cameras to keep from ramming the front into curbs when parking. You're good!

Interesting that the screen flicker was more prone on the early production 2014. I wasn't aware of that. When I bought mine, the dealer told me that it was the 28,000th and something 2014 produced. Hopefully the issue was addressed by then.

If you are set on a C7, buy the newest and lowest mileage one you can afford.
