Thoughts on the exposed carbon fiber top
I have the exposed carbon fiber top (came with the car, I didn't order it) and wish I didn't.
Couple reasons.
1. The clear coat is very soft. 2 days after I got the car home I noticed a big scuff mark 3" by 6" on the top. It buffed out OK, except for one tiny but deeper scratch. Now I wonder what will scuff/scratch it the next time...
2. The color is a yellowish brown. Doesn't really go with the my green paint. Actually I can't think of a color that would look good with it. VY maybe.
3 The more I think about it the more I don't think a structural material like CF should be used as a cosmetic device. Kind of like leaving the siding off your house so you could see the Tyvek panels. I expect I'm in the minority here...
If anyone has the dual top option in green and wants a exposed carbon fiber instead, I'm all ears.

I wanted it until I saw it in person and did not like the Brown color it gave off. It did not look good on Cyber Gray at all. Just my opinion but after seeing it I went with the stock painted roof.

He could, but would be covering a very expensive top.
I love the top on my white coupe. I think it stands out perfectly, but on other colors it can blend closely, but not quite enough. The green and black cars show this to me, but contrasting with white and also installed on cyber gray looks good.
To protect my top I had it polished and coated with CQuartz Finest but I am also going to add XPEL to the roof panel. Just like the C6 ZR1, the exposed carbon will show marks and scuffs easily.

I like the exposed CF on white, red, & yellow since it is such a drastic contrast; I can also see it looking good on Laguna Blue.

Better to buy a painted top and sell the exposed, as he mentioned in the first post rather than paint over a very expensive top. Painting it would be removing all it's extra value.

I wonder how long it will be before we can purchase tops separately? My car only came with the transparent top, but I'd love to be able to buy a Laguna Blue painted top for the summer months.

You have to buy the top and the frame separately and then assemble it and have a body shop paint it. There may be another part number/kit needed too, but any good parts guy can look up all the requirements.
Same for the transparent top, except no painting.
Your favorite parts distributor/dealer can quote you the prices.

I love mine... I'm not seeing a brown hue... it's lighter than pure black because of the weave but no brown... and I find the painted sides with the carbon weave looks amazing. It's probably the part of the car people comment on the most. At the end of the day, however, it is all what you personally like.
Here's a good shot of it...

I saw a C Grey Stingray with one at a local dealer and really liked it over the painted ones that I saw although they look very nice also, I ordered mine exposed. I am color blind and see things different than most do probably. I don't have mine yet so it will be interesting to see how it looks on crystal red.

I initially had one on order to go with CG coupe. When my allocation slot came up it was on constraint and I decided I could live without it.
Later on before I took delivery, I saw the exposed roof on a CG coupe.
I did not regret dropping that option. It was pleasing to my eye as far as color, not perfectly black...but not discolored looking.
In the end it seemed to not have much visual impact unless you were right up on it (at least on CG). It looks great on the bold colors
