Default Wedding getaway car - Baltimore

Hi!

I wrote a few months ago about borrowing a C7 as a getaway car after my wedding in Baltimore. If there are any C7 owners in the Baltimore area available on June 6, please contact me. I more so want to borrow the car for a quick ride around the block and for quick end-of-the-night pictures. My fiance is a Corvette enthusiast and he would love this! He recently sold his 2008 Corvette. He loves the C7 model (who doesn't!).

Congrats to you and your fiance! My guess is that you will be hard pressed to find somebody willing to loan out the C7 even if just for a quick drive around the block. Might I suggest contacting Hertz as they are one of the few car rental chains to actually rent out late model Corvettes.

Best of luck to you and yours and congrats!

Would you consider a $100K cash deposit. No it did not cost me that much, but if I had to:
1. Go through the wait and aggravation again
2. Spend days searching for the perfect combo of options
3. Pay taxes and price increase on a new one in case something happened
That is about what I would be asking.

Thanks so much! Hertz is a great idea. I'll check with them!

If someone ask me to borrow my tools or vert C7, and I do get request. I quickly respond with "Can I borrow your wife". That pretty much ends the conversation.

My wedding getaway car was a C2 vert, red with white rag top. Push for the memories.

But it's their wedding night!! Sloppy seconds maybe?

AMB0904, no disrespect meant. Trig's response was just kind of an ironic response given the nature of your request and the timing.

Gotta say that's a pretty heady request of strangers on a forum. There just aren't that many C7s running around the average neighborhood yet. Does it HAVE to be a C7? Wouldn't a C4-C5-C6 Vette satisfy your handsome husband-to-be? Lots of those around. You must be fairly young (OK, under 40….) which means that you either have some friends who have Vettes that would be willing to help, or alternatively, ask around on your father's or mother's side of the family to see if an older relative would be willing. If not, settle for a limo…and nail him in the back seat.

...

Sorry, just following up on what slief mentioned….

At this point, C7s are pretty thin on the ground in Maryland. Most of those that do have them aren't even through the break-in period, yet. Seems a pretty big favor to ask from some stranger.

You might get a better response if you asked for some other generation.

look up exotic car rental in your area. I'm sure if you call they can hook you up or send you in the right direction.

What about Mike at Criswell Chevrolet. Seems like the kind of opportunity a good forum sponsor would jump at - and he's nearby.

It's a genuine request for a wedding. I don't get why some have to go to the smutty answers. Giving a suggestion, or a simple yes or no, will do.

I have seen these kind of wedding requests before for classic cars. The results are pretty much the same. I would not loan mine for a "quick" ride around the block to a stranger. Sometimes they never return and before you know it, it is in a container on its way to some foreign country. Good chance of that in Baltimore since it is a port of entry.

Classic cars make sense. My sister did that when she got married. She and her husband were able to ride in the rumble seat of a car from the 30s, while the OWNER DROVE. I can't imagine handing the fob to someone who is not familiar with the car in an urban environment.

I drive in Baltimore quite a bit and have a bajillion miles on C6s, and it still makes me nervous. I have 600 miles on my new Stingray, and that is not enough to make me comfortable driving there. Next time I visit my daughter, I will be taking my old car.

Don't get me wrong, if the OP is able to swing this, more power to her, but I just don't see this as likely.

Don't know if management would go for this but it could be good publicity. But then he'd be swarmed with requests from others.

Does anybody know how to get a message to Mike asking him to read this thread. Apologize in advance for some of the trashy comments included.

I have to believe Mike has access to demo units.

I suggest him only because of geography. Wouldn't expect it to work at greater distances.

TIA
