Default Underhood Liner

Has anyone changed the underhood liner for the liner with the stingray logo or the corvette flags, if so how does the liner come off.

I painted my myself with some acrylic airbrush paint and a couple of coats of clear over it when done....

It comes off by removing the 6 round plastic fasteners around the perimeter and the 2 torx screws on the plastic inlet. The inlet just pulls straight off after that with a series of clips around the outside.

Everything just pops back on, assuming you haven't destroyed the round fasteners removing them (which I did on 2 of them). They had them at my local Ace Hardware for ~$.50 each....

Very nice! I just might talk my wife into airbrushing mine too.

(still like your Steel City Grey C3 )

I did a combination of airbrush spraying of the background colors and then used a standard brush for the sharper lines.

Quick tip... if you want the bold colors like I got you have to lay down a couple coats of clear first to 'seal' all those fibers. Otherwise, all the airbrush color paint just soaks in and you end up using lots of it.

I'm sure the guys that spray these for a living go through a lot of color soaking into that fiber liner...

1. Take the heat extractor off.
2. Pull the plastic fasteners out and remove the hood liner.

The plastic fasteners are likely to break with the potential of parts of them falling back into your hood. They will rattle around for a while inside the hood but I think they eventually find their way out or something because I haven't noticed them rattling around when I open or close the hood anymore.

Here's my hood liner...

It's not a hard job but the six plastic plugs that hold it in place are harder to remove than the C6. Even using the tool suggested I broke two of them getting them out. The issue is they are recessed in several spots and I took it easy so I didn't crush the material getting the plugs out. All-in-all not a problem as the new liner with Stingray logo came with six new fasteners.

Is that an official OME GM part? If so, what is the part number & cost?
Looks great

I installed my new hood insulator tonight. Took about 20 minutes going slowly. I bought a trim tool removal kit at Advanced Auto which helped remove a couple of fasteners were difficult.

How is your painted liner holding up? I'm almost done with mine and debating as to what kind of clear to use. I bought a can of high heat but on a test sheet it looks kinda cloudy. What kind of clear did you use and was it a rattle can? Thanks.

My liner came as part of the package that included the rear liner and floor mats....looks pretty easy to install...6 visible clips when the hood vent is in place...looks like the vent needs to be removed and I assume there are two or three additional clips.
