We did what you guys are referring to as a pre-trade. We bought the C7 convertible from a local dealer and wanted to trade the C6 in. We knew that since this wasn't a high volume Corvette dealer, and since we were ordering options that were under constraint, it would be a while before we could take delivery. The dealer gave us the options of trading it in at current value when we placed the order for the car or keep driving it and trade it in when the C7 arrived.
We traded when we ordered the car. That way we knew exactly how much we were getting for the trade up front and it had fewer miles and was worth more in Nov. 2013 than it would be in Mar of 2014.
