Heads up for those wanting an SD card for music
Saw a lot of people talking about the SD card slot in the CD player thread, and not a lot of people aware of it.
Does not stick out like the USB and a lot of computers have the slot for easy transfer. On sale today at amazon:
16gb for $8.99

One thing I do miss not using my iPod and instead using an SD card is not having playlists

You can use the SD Cards for anything you have in iTunes & keep your playlists. Here's a "How to.." on the iTunes to SD Card thing.
1. You need an SD Card of decent speed, Sandisk works fine for the most part, the Extreme versions are better for large Playlists & the such.
2. On you PC insert your SD Card & after the PC recognizes it, open a window (& keep it open) to the card's root directory. Now format the SD Card within windows either Fat32 or NTFS I think will work as well.
3. Launch iTunes & browse your Library, select the music & create a playlist. Once you have your playlist complete, click on the playlist within iTunes & highlight all the music in your playlist & drag them to your window containing the root directory of your SD Card.
4.Now go back to iTunes & with your playlist highlighted in the left pane of iTunes, go to Menu/Library/Export Playlist. This will bring up a "Save As" window, which will be prepopulated with you playlist's name. You'll want to save this file in the root directory of you SD Card, but most importantly change the file format to a *.m3u file. Click Save & your done....
Hope this helps...

Can the car read a 32gb card or max of 16?

Thanks Wormwood...
I did try that and it didn't work. But I may have saved the playlists as .xml files not m3u. I'll try it again

The only way I've done this is to simply drag all the music titles from an existing playlist within iTunes to my root directory of my SD Card. So there's absolutely no file/directory structure. I've noticed that it'll index about 250 songs on a SanDisk Extreme SD Card in about 10-15 seconds from the time the car starts. That does include my "[playlist].3mu" file in the root directory as well. Anything other than is has created song files that won't play, endless loops of a single song track, or duplicates of the same song when there is any, etc....
PNY SD card should be fine, but just make sure you purchase something that has better than avg. READ/WRITE SPEEDS. This is what will determine how fast the car can index all the songs when you start the vehicle.
I wish I knew why the car HAS to re-index EVERY TIME you start the vehicle? It make me think that the SD Card slot is used for other things like updates & diagnostics, otherwise it wouldn't have a need to know what's on there.

Thanks Wormwood. Using m3u extension files works great
