Corvette Plant Tour
I just got back from the Corvette plant in Bowling Green! I took a tour of the plant and went to the Corvette Museum. First thing I wanted to tell you guys is they are still building Z-51's. I saw quite a few on the line there. I got to see them put each car on a "Dyno" and run them up to 75mph. Our tour guy from Western University of Kentucky told us how the car runs in V6 and V4 modes and how they put brake coolant in the cars. Oh I found out that the orange peel paint is normal. The torch reds and white cars were as bad as mine if not worse. So it must be "normal" Made me feel better about my torch red C7. The metallic paint colors looked better IMO. (as far as orange peel) They spray 12gpm of water on the cars testing for leaks.
Oh because it was raining today, I drove my GF's Smartfortwo car up there. Driving my C7 to sunny Birmingham tomorrow. But being we were in a foreign car we had to park in a more distant parking lot. Lol
All in all I really enjoyed seeing the GM plant!
A girl that was working in the Museum said that she couldn't go see the sinkhole either. I thought they should charge extra and let us see it? But I did see a few happy people picking their new Vettes up there today.

Yeah it probably was 1200gpm. I was busy watching the guy driving the C7 slide to a stop to keep from hitting a I beam near the leak testing area. I bet they have a ball when they get outside to the test track...

- Finding out orange peel is 'normal' is not something to get excited about...that's called poor quality control.

I was happy to hear about your tour. We are driving our C7 to Bowling Green the first of next month for the plant tour and the museum. We are also going to the "Rock of Ages" show/concert. Should be a fun trip. Thanks for the post.

Pete...
We are heading to BG next week to see the factory and museum. Going so I can see all the colors in person and the interiors....since I'm ordering a '15 this year.
Anything you missed or wish you would have seen/asked??

I think the metallic colors have less orange peel from what I saw there.
