Trailer Hitch
Guys,
I had owned a C5 and installed a trailer(receiver)hitch to transport my bike.Does anyone know of a manufacturer that makes a hitch for a C7?This can be a deal breaker. What do you guys do that take tires to the track?

I know receiver hatches are made for the C6. A friend had one for a bike rack and it worked fine. I've not seen one for the C7 and the way the exhaust and surrounding area is arranged it looks to be more difficult to fit. Also the C6 version required drilling the frame. The C7 has an aluminum frame and I'm not so sure I would want to drill it. Might not be a problem but it's up to you. You should search for companies that make the C6 hitch and call them to see if they plan one for the C7.
I know guys pull 4'x4' tire trailers behind Miatas heading for the track.

General Towing Information
The vehicle is neither designed nor
intended to tow a trailer.
Page 9-55 in the manual.
Doesn't mean you can't install a hitch but not sure how the dealer would handle warranty issues if he saw it on the car.

I'm certain that it is possible, but the hitch installer would have to have experience in this area. The distance from any C7 frame under there to the tip of the exhaust pipes is quite a ways, so I can see where it would be a challenging install - but not impossible. I would not pull-up to a UHaul shop and expect them to know their a** from a custom trailer hitch. I had a Class IV hitch installed on an S-Class Mercedes-Benz many years ago at a custom shop, and it worked out beautifully.

ug, enough with 'buy a truck'. You don't need a Escapade or F150 to tow a small utility trailer.
I have a Class II on the Challenger to tow a trailer for my quad. Got Class II's on both Mustangs for the same reason. If I could get the one for the BMW imported from Germany, I'd have one on the 5. For bike racks, small trailer, pulling your track tires behind you...on and on.
Got a car trailer, big ol horse trailer, or a huge boat - fine get the truck.
Challenger - 1 quad. Big ol Dodge - 6 quads and two motocrossers.

Years back a guy towed 4 rotations of race slicks to autocrosses behind his C2. (2 speed auto as if it matters.) The guy cleaned darn near everyone's clocks and bought home a pile of "hardware" over the years. He didn't need a tow vehicle etc ect. All he needed were the tires and the ability to drive.
BTW, I'd love to know what you find in the way of hitches for the C7!

Check out the link.
It doesn't answer OP's question, but should give the nay-sayers something to think about.
Hauling your track tires to the track on a trailer is popular.

Advanced
As a cyclist as well, I would suggest this option. I don't have one but I've seen it used and I was amazed how well it worked.

I know it's not the answer to your question but possibly a solution to your problem.
Good luck.

In Larry Edsall's book about the Stingray, the car was extensively tested towing trailers with unreasonable loads to stress all components. The engineers are quoted as saying the car is fully capable of towing a lot of load with no adverse effects. They just were totally unwilling to compromise their weight and balance equations for accommodating any sort of trailer hitch and associated hardware.
To the OP...if you can find/fabricate the hardware you need, the car should be able to handle it. Warranty is a different issue however since to Owner's Manual warns against it.

A review of Google hits for Corvette trailer hitches shows that they are specific to the model year. Companies that sell trailer hitches ask for your specific model year. In the case of the C7, you may select 2014 or 2015.
The trailer hitches that fit the C7 are either Gooseneck or 5th wheel hitches. AutoAnything® sells two Goosenecks and four 5th wheels by CURT.
