Trailer Hitch

I believe to OP was asking in regards to using the hitch to mount a bike rack. In that case, the hitch, bike rack and bike combined weight would only be in the 50-100# range.

Also, if he catches any of you guys in his stuff, he'll kill you. So just keep your meathooks off.

No wonder Corvette people get a bad rap. To pull a set of tires to the track is doing what the car was intended to do. Not sit in a garage covered with 20 coats of Zanio.
OP,I hope you find your hitch. Don't let a bunch of old man waxers scare you off.

This is a great post!
I love to race and often times my events are 2 - 3 hrs. away. It would be way cool to be able to make a choice to drive my SUV or my vette to the venue but I don't have a hitch on my vette. As an avid triathlete and bicyclist I hope the OP finds what he is looking for. More power to him.
Guys get over it.... it's a car... Cars were made to transport people and things. If the OP can't take pride in transporting his bike such that he can do the things he wants to do, he's missing out on fulfilling half the reason one would own a vette.
Sure it is fun to wash, wax and detail em but driving them places for a purpose is also fun.
To the OP:
Bike safe and may there always be a tail wind pushing you.

There is always a way of doing almost anything. There is a huge hollow bumper at the rear. If you don't want to drill holes, you can always add some sort of big clamps around this bumper with extensions downwards.
You won't be towing anything big. But a small trailer for extra luggage ( like a C7 rear clip would be cool, color matched of course), tire dolly, or a bike rack etc.

With the A$$ on this one, I think it's going to be tricky to do with out punching a hole in the body, but not impossible.
Where there's a will, there's a way.
If a trailer hitch does it for you, go for it...but keep tissues handy for those of us start tearing up when we see yours in person.

Seems like the perfect time to post this classic early 1970s IH Travelall advertisement
I have a feeling some of the protective "nannies" on the C7 might get a bit confused with even a fairly light trailer trying to wag the rear end.

I had my Vette up on my lift and I was specifically looking at it from your perspective of waning to install a tow hitch, and honestly it looks as if engineers went out of there way to make that impossible...or at least not go out of their way to make it easy. Here are a few pictures from the underside. The problem is (without cutting into that black lower rear fascia) I don't see how you easily attach a hitch to the frame.
From the back looking up:
Looking up at the mufflers and rear fascia:

What about the pick up points shown in the red boxes shown below.
This looks like a solid place since the main spring and wish bones are attached to these. Remember that this is for light trailer applications only.

Sorry for digging up this old thread, but I was watching some old episodes of Route 66 on TV, and the opening scene showed Buzz & Todd towing a horse trailer with Todd's 61 Vette. This thread came to mind immediately, and I knew I had to post some screen shots.
The poor quality isn't from my camera, but rather the 480i format on a big flat screen.
Enjoy

Well normally heavy unsecured items would be dangerous in an accident but those wheels are squeezed in and probably wouldn't go anywhere.
But at least the C7 would have the power to tow uphill unlike the unfortunate little car in this video

I put a DrawTite hitch on my C5. Then had a custom enclosed trailer built that was is 4'-0" W x 6'-0" L and 4'-0" H with a 3,500 pound trailer axle and 14" wheels.
Carried my race tires tools, EZ UP, floor jack, etc. The car a 2002 Z06 got 27 MPG without the Trailer and 22 MPG with the trailer. Towed straight as an arrow at 100 MPH too.
