I am not a geologist or a geotecch but in my business we deal with karst featrues all the time in the Texas Hill Country, my guess is that is what they have as opposed to a traditional sink hole like you hear about in Florida.

The museum, the assembly plant and the new motorsports facility.

It also makes me look in the mirror. My neighborhood was built over an old stream. This could just as easily happened to my house. That's a good feeling to know...

Now, umm, I can't resist...are those 8 'Vettes insured through NCM?

I'm sure that Adam Boca can answer your last question.

The great thing about America is you have the resources and talent to rebuild these cars and they will look like nothing ever happened to them.

Default Environmental Geologist: What the Sinkhole Might Mean for the National Corvette Museu

Mods: please feel free to merge this, but I thought the opinion of someone with degrees in Hydrology and Environmental Geology might warrant its own thread.

I don't understand the big deal. Those were all pre-C7's. They were obsolete, they were so "yesterday". Anyone who cares about them is simply living in the past, plus, several of those models even had round tail lights.

Unbelievable, these classic rare Vettes look like toys at the bottom of a hole, I hope the majority are repairable!

Well maybe you are obsolete too. Anyone that doesn't appreciate the cars that went in the hole should be put in the hole after the cars are removed and left there.

If you look at one of the helicopter video's.After the hovering under the pipe, then it pans out of the hole.Look to the right a huge open area with no dirt.I'm not scientist but i would bet that was one of those caves?Or a utility culvert that the roof broke under load?Once their is a void it will just weaken and travel.Ain't much holding that red tower up?Great video's.
