Giant sinkhole eatting cars at the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green! {MEGA MERGER}

I hate to say it and not trying to be negative but those cars might not be recoverable. It may just be too dangerous to try and pull those cars out with the ground being so unstable. I'm sure the engineers are first trying to determine if the sinkhole will continue to grow. Eventually, they'll have to assess the risk vs reward of trying to recover those cars, not to mention if it will be worth the cost.
Sinkholes happen too often here in Central Florida and when homes or a room gets swallowed they usually bulldoze what's left of the house into the hole and add fill dirt as needed. I'm not saying they'll do that in this case but I would be surprised if they can recover those cars. This particular case will have it's own particular challenges since it's inside a building which could limit the size of equipment they can use. The good news is that is no one was hurt.

Wow. Those are some amazingly sad photos. What a tragedy. It's a good thing this happened after hours. This could have been absolutely horrific if it happened during normal business hours. I wonder if there is risk of additional sink holes there. More over, I wonder what the cause was.

Looks like they will need a crane to lift the cars out?

What a shocker!
Looks like they need to get a lot of other cars moved before more of the floor gives way! That hole looks a lot bigger underneath the floor.
That is gonna be one huge repair job.
Gotta wonder if they've shut the plant down for assessment also.

If you look at the video you can see how there is simply nothing under the concrete when the first pair of cars drop. (1.5 millionth and the PPG car). they fall so suddenly their roofs hit each other on the way down the hole.
Definite sink hole. you can't lay concrete over air.

It's one huge nightmare ...
Maybe the whole area is in danger, including the assembly plant and residential areas.

I'm from Louisville and what some folks may not realize is that whole area around Bowling Green is home to the largest cave system in the world; including Mammouth Cave, Horse Cave etc. Let's hope they didn't build the museum atop part of some massive cave system. Yikes!
