Is the nonz51 comparable to a "v6 version"
So I have waited far too long for my z51 1LT AW and am getting ready to give up on it and buy a 2LT CG thats at my dealership. Back in 2010 I made the horrible decision of buying a v6 Camaro instead of an SS and I have regretted that decision everyday for the past 4 years. I dont want to make that mistake again. Do you guys think getting the nonz51 is like getting a v6 variant of a camaro or mustang? I will only be using the car as a daily driver and take it out to the canyons once in a while. My gut says I wont regret it since the performance numbers are very close compared to the v6 to v8 of the camaro, but does anyone with a non-z51 regret not getting the z51?
Thanks Guys

The performance gap between a base C7 and Z51 is nowhere near what it is between a V6 & V8 Camaro. The performance numbers of a Base C7 are far above any Camaro.
There will be a big gap in performance between the Z51 and the 2015 Z06 with the Z07 package - 640 hp and bigger tires and ceramic brakes will boost performance by big margins.

Sounds like that is exactly what you are trying to rationalize your way into doing. My suggestion is to wait for the car you really want, the AW Z51. Every time you see a Z51 go by, you'll be reminded that you really wanted the Z51, especially when guys on here and other places continue to rave about how great the Z51 is( most guys will not tell you the truth at this point, if they regret not getting a certain option like Z51, mag ride, NPP, etc, due to ego. Can't admit they were wrong. Some will, but most won't if they are having second thoughts).

I have noticed several threads you have initiated regarding your conundrum. If you have this much angst about the Z51 package that you ordered and your desire for immediate gratification you will have to make that call for yourself. For me it was easy I am not going to track this car, it is to be used as a cruiser and the non Z51 has a softer ride so it was the car for me. For everyday driving the ride is softer the performance is still spectacular and the appearance is the same eye candy. If I wanted to track the car I would definitely ordered the Z51 package. The increased cost was not a consideration for me, but for some it probably is and then there is the ego issue which is always a factor with Corvettes. Why else would we buy one?

No idea how long or how many posts you've made on this topic. I doubt if there will be that much noticeable difference to you if you were to test drive both, back to back. But if there is any angst on your part, wait. Buy what you originally and seemingly, still want. Or years from now, someone on some internet forum will be reading:
"Should I buy X model instead of X model WITH "El Great-o" Package? Or, will this be like when I bought that Base Corvette Stingray instead of waiting for my ordered Z51 Stingray?"
Know what I mean?

Z51 on the Vette is more like 1LE on the Camaro SS or Z71 on a Silverado.

I would be more concerned about choosing the right color(for me) than choosing between a base and a Z51 equipped car.

...and I'm glad that the forums are trashing the non Z51. I'll be sure and to remind my salesman of this when I roll off the lot in a couple of years with my base car below invoice like I got my base C6. Therefore, I will once again get a car that is lighter and quicker down the 1/4mi drag strip than a heavier track-ready version. I don't do tracks, so I have no need whatsoever for a Z51 other than to use it as leverage to get the price down on what I really want.
Thanks again people.

The non Z51 Stingray will go from 0-60 in 4 seconds. The Z51 will take 3.8 seconds.
The non Z51 will take 112 feet to stop from 60-0 The Z51 will stop you in 106 feet
The non Z51 can achieve 1.0 g on the skid pad The Z51 can achieve 1.03 g
These numbers are right out of the horses mouth in the '14 Corvette brochure.
