Absolutely, perhaps you haven't read all about how the computers take temperature into account or the low temp warnings on the tires?

Yep the C7 is much worse then the C6. These Michelins leave a lot to be desired.

Traction control is too delayed for my tastes........ seemed quicker in the c6.

Be careful!!!!

My money's on salt, sand, grit, whatever they dump on the roads in your area. Like driving on loose gravel.

All things being equal, the C6 is more tail-happy than a C7. Beware of cold tires!

Traction control is for wimps

Just kidding but in Porsche circles PSM (Porsche Stability Management) is known as Porsche Slow Mode......

Yes, but it's been sub freezing for weeks, there's all kinds of crap left on the road from the storms so yes, 50 degrees ambient in those conditions means the car will have a tendency to slip a bit compared to 50 degrees in Florida.

Exactly, So why ask what the temperature was when the first 6 words were "Today it was about 50 out"

The Michelin's are MUCH better in warm temps. I would much rather have tires that are amazing in the conditions they were intended to be driven in if the downside is they are slippery in conditions they were not intended to be driven in. If someone wants a no-season (I mean all season) tire, that's what they should get.

My guess is had you been in touring or weather mode the stability control would have not let you slide very far. If that's the case, then I guess it's best to use the "lower" modes until the weather warms up.

I've been driving my M3 all through this cold winter (not actually in the snow though) and have had no problems with summer tires (Vredestein) and never had problems with Michelin PS2's either. I don't "punch it" though unless the weather is warmer (and don't tell me the M3 doesn't have the power to break loose). Perhaps I've just developed a bit of a sense of when it's ok to push it. Good luck and be careful.

Cheers.

Fifty degrees is all it takes to reduce the traction of summer tires by 40% or so. Well see, if the car is poking around on city streets then the tires can get cold but if the car is being driven at 60 MPH on the highway then the tires are warm enough
.

General UHP's and most "summer" tires are not great in the cold but the Michelin PSS tires fall off a lot faster under 40 degrees than most summer tires.

Also, driving harder isn't the same as going faster and in virtually all situations you'll find the C7 is going faster than the C6 even if it doesn't feel like it's being pushed as hard.

It was 58 degrees here today but I still have snow on my driveway....the highway and the ocean don't warm up in 1 day....think about it!
