Simply. That's because the bezels around the lights in body color is just too much. The bezels are too large to be body color. In this application, a little contrast is needed. The silver car is perfect.

Exactly, AW, not a chance, the black bits including the vents, mirrors and spoiler break up the vast expanse of white rather nicely. Good work on yours. That red one posted earlier....NAFC, silver though looks pretty good.

Agree, that is the way I'll probably go when I get my Torch Red C7.

Is that a GG3 in the pic as a mini polisher? I love mine......
Glen, you might be looking at the drop light which has a plug I use for powering the battery charger. From that view it does look like the Griots mini-polisher which comes in handy for some jobs but I like the old Porter-Cable random orbit polisher for most polishing jobs.

"Nice use of the 'post kitchen makeover' cabinets!"
Hmmm, we've been asked why the cars are in our "kitchen" a few times.......... Woodworking is another hobby and we built the garage ourselves from the ground up including installing the cabinets.

I agree. When we were first thinking of the changes we might want to make to the car we had considered painting the grills, vents and bezels in either body color or a contrasting color. For silver I thought using a Pewter might look interesting. In the end though we thought silver would look best to us with more contrast and we like the contrast the carbon flash provides. We felt the same when it came to the lower fascia even though it was a bit more work than had we painted the entire piece in one color.

The main objective was to integrate the rear further while avoiding making the rear look oversize. We painted the upper area in body color but left the lower underside areas in the carbon flash black metallic. The entire piece was wet sanded and cleared. We also painted the two vertical grills and the exhaust surround in the carbon flash to match the other grills and vents.

Excellent results. You need to be polishing....maybe the undercarriage.... HA!

My NRB came from factory painted. I have a 1LT. I thought the black was a 2LT or 3LT upgrade ?

You are mistaken my friend. None of them come from the factory painted.

They came painted - just not body color.

My picture above may not show it well enough, but my neighbor and I had this discussion a couple of weeks ago and in the sunlight we both agreed that it is the body color. I will say with the NRB, the color takes on different color hues, sometimes it looks like it has gray in it on upper panels and hood, trunk, roof.

If I am wrong, it is a black pretty close to the original NRB paint color. If I take some new pics of it, I will post them.

If you look at the NRB thread post #31 you will see what I mean about how hard it is to tell what color the bumper is.

That looks great. This mod application to the rear is the first one I like. Otherwise I would leave it stock as all the other rear mods look strange to me.

I used to say that all-body color in back would look too "big," or "oversize" as Rich has said in his thinking about it. The silver treatment, done the way he did it, looks very good. I still think for some it might be too much body-color in the rear, but that's a personal preference for some, and not for others. I'd say that Rich's silver treatment is a very good example of how to do it.
