Default Pop and max RPM shifts

Have C7 Z51 auto. When under full acceleration shift it is like motor gets to "rev limiter" and it makes a "pop" sound. It still shifts at full power
This is after the car is all warmed up and at max red line.

When I had my C6 with manual and I was slow with a shift I know what the rev limiter sounds like but this is a different sound.

Anybody hear this pop or have an idea?

Likely the exhaust which is normal. I love the pop/backfire sound of performance exhausts. At least this is what I think you are describing.

Thanks! My wife said it sounds like a back fire so you are right on!

Have the same thing with my A6, it shifts right at 6,400 and at the shift you hear it, there is no hesitation or bucking like when you hit the limiter and sounds more like it's coming out of the exhaust or more than likely the cats. Have not heard from anyone that has taken theirs to the track to see if they notice it when running the 1/4.

Others have commented on this and it is the exhaust... my C63 did the same thing. The sound gets addictive

I love the downshift/decelerate burble of my C5Z with Borlas

This was programmed into automatic C7s to mimic the sound of race cars when their sequential transmissions shift.
