Are the last the last 5 digits of your VIN your production #?

i.e a VIN ending in 08538, was the the 8538th Vette built?

Yes, but vehicle such as the Premier Edition have their own sequences so these must be counted too. The total built is higher because of this.

According to the VIN decoding link, everything after the 5 (BG assembly) is the sequence. My VIN ends in 111822 which would seem to indicate all produced C7s sequence # start with a 1 (can't believe 111K have been produced)

Yep, I agree. That is why I qualified my response with a "basically". The 12 digit will vary for the "special" editions. I believe 3 was used for the Coupe special edition, not sure if they are using 3 for the vert special edition or not. "Normal" versions will be a 1.

The 12th digit actually is not always a 1. See my previous post.

No, as there is duplication in the last five characters in the VIN because of captured test fleet cars, special editions, etc.. To see how many cars were built before yours, look at the inked number on the tires. and subtract one from it.
