We had/have a HUD on both our C5's. Never used it; ended up lowering the display down to where we could look right past it. I guess we could of turned it off altogether...
I guess it's truly an individual thing.

I've had the HUD on all three if the C5s I have owned and have gotten really spoiled with it. I don't think I would want a C7 without that option, and I hope that someday it will be made an option on the 1LT package.

I have a 1LT. HUD was the only upgrade I was really interested in from the 2LT package, so it was not worth the $4k for me. I didn't want Nav, so that is one less thing for the HUD. Spent the $4k on Z51 and NPP which I enjoy a lot more.
Pretty sure I needed every bit of the Z51 brakes just yesterday. A few more inches and my new C7 would have been in the Smashed C7's thread here after a crazy driver pulled what I though was going to be just a bad lane change turned into a full blown U turn crossing 2 lanes of traffic at a right angle right in front of me.

Agree, it definately reminds you of your speed. I had it in my C6 and would not have the ordered the C7 without it. Never look at the speed on the dash. Compared to the c6, the "g" meter is better and I have it displayed at all times. Now it has about a 3 or 4 second delay so you don't have to try to look when you're at an apex (in my case a 270 degree off ramp!) Great feature easy to see whithout taking your eyes off the road!

I don't think of a HUD as a performance feature. I think of it as a safety feature. Having said that, I do believe other parts of the 2LT package are worth it. If you were getting 2LT just because of HUD I'd say no.
Cheers.

After having the HUD on my C5 and driving the car for over 130K miles, I would NOT want to have my next Corvette be without it. If I have to pay extra for some things I wouldn't normally want, then so be it. I think the biggest advantage for the HUD is safety. Your eyes never have to leave the road to see what is going on with the car, even "Check Gages". if required.

You "sure" you aren't interested in any of the other 2LT options? Being in a C6 1LT, what I miss most is lumbar support, which comes in the 2LT C7. HUD - you can always add that later if you want it - it's not hard or pricey. Changing electronics on seats - that's another ball game.

I had the HUD on my C5 and it was one of my favorite features on the car. If I had to I'd pay $4k for that option alone. When you consider all the other upgrades I think the 2LT is a no-brainer. The jump from 2LT to 3LT is harder for me to justify.

The HUD is well worth it to me. If you go to a track or do something like the Texas mile you can keep track of everything without taking your eyes off the road. And it might help your resell value down the road.

My opinion comes from being +55. I find myself many times not paying attention to it. If I could save not having a particular package on the C7Z I would omit it along with the heated seats.

My first Vette was a 01 z06 and it didn't have one. I went with a 1LT C6 which does not have one. I drove a friends C6 with HUD and found it annoying and dimmed it out. So it is a personal thing.
My gripe on the new 1LT is that it no longer has the auto dimming mirrors like the 1LT C6 did. That said If I do get a C7 it will be a 1LT.

I had HUD in several of my previous cars (BMW's) and liked them very much. I considered it a "must-have" when I ordered the C7. However, upon receipt of a car and driving it for sometime now, I really don't like the heads up display in the Corvette. The quality and graphics are not as nice as the BMW and using the "Sport" display with the digital speedo, I find I don't need it. Also, with my polarized prescription sunglasses, it is very dim. Nav instructions can be displayed in the center of the display. There is lag in the tach. Etc.
Wouldn't pay extra for it now.
Concerning the issue of safety, I think the argument could go both ways. I sometimes find having the HUD info in my constant field of vision tiring and distracting. When I'm looking out the windshield, there's usually enough to keep track of without the constant intrusion of infographics. When things are "quieter" out the windshield, a well placed speedo and instrument panel is key...for me the "Sport" display as mentioned above really does the job.

I got the 3LT, so didn't have to think about it...never had one before, but it is great! would not get another car without it....especially like how it works when using nav...directions appear on windshield, don't even have t look at screen on dash....not only nice to have, but must have imho!
