I thought my wife, I, and my Crystal Red C7 vert were goners yesterday.
We're driving on the eastbound 210 yesterday in Pasadena, going about 75 in the left lane, and we drive under a wide bridge. It was dark and my headlights came on. Suddenly, out of nowhere, some idiot in an Infiniti comes up behind me going about 140. It's dark and I can't see him very well, but I heard him. I thought "We're dead." At the last instant, just before rearending me, he suddenly swerves to the lane to my right and blows by me, almost sideswiping me. Amazingly, he didn't hit any of the cars in front of me. Then he pulled off at an offramp. Some people at the gym this morning thought he saw a red Corvette ahead and was just showing off. I don't think so. I think he was just driving way too fast, we were just in the way, and he saw me in the dark under the bridge at the last minute.

I've experienced this myself several times and I was infuriated. Makes you wish bad things on those idiots. Never a cop around when this happens neither. It will catch up to them eventually. Good you didn't panic & lose control yourself.

The roads are full of idiots. You have to drive as though you're under attack at all times. Glad you're ok.
The other day I was in my Z06 and had a guy pull up fast on me from behind, swerve to the left to pass me in a big hurry (I was 2 or 3 mph over the limit), then immediately pull back in front of me to take an exit on the right. He saved maybe 5 seconds by passing me. WTF? Just trying to prove something maybe. I don't get it. The concept of driver courtesy seems to have died over the past 20-30 years.

Before I had 200 miles on my car, someone with an SUV cut in front of me (I think he looked over the top of me, I had the top down and didn't see me). Panic stop saved the day with inches to spare, and I do mean inches. (the manual said not to brake hard prior to 200 miles, what to do?) I stalled it, manual, sat there a second or two, the idiot in the back of me had to blow his horn. Don't you just love your fellow drivers.

That's for sure. We pay them to come here.
I've had several people recently almost wipe me out with sudden lane changes without looking to the side to see if there is a car there. You are a sitting duck in that situation. Of course, these morons don't signal either. 8 times out of 10 it is some dufus with dark tinted side windows.

I had my vet for two months now, seem to have a new Challenger always messing with me around my home town, drives fast from behind me and coming to close when passing and or getting next to me throttling his car to race, which I didn't for about 3 different times, one day I had enough of it, I was going about 60mph and as usually trying to get me to race him except this time he just kept on, so I went from 7th gear to 3rd gear and stomp it, well it 60mph going to 3rd, it broke rubber and car took a twist and took off leaving the Challenger about a car link and a half behind, then hitting 4th gear at 6500rpms it was all over but the crying for the poor ole Challenger, my car was just gaining so much I let off when I got about 10 car links ahead of him, then I slowed down but he wouldn't pass me until I slowed downed enough he had to, he wouldn't even look at me, I did roll my window down and gave him a good ole Corvette wave, no one finger wave, I try not to be that way. I haven't seem him since that day.

Nothing worse than left lane slow pokes that think they own the lane!

You handled it well and it was truly a close call. If you'd have changed lanes at the same time he did, you probably wouldn't have been able to make this post.
