Do you agree that the C7 Z06 will not be faster than a C6 ZR1 b/c of GMs marketing?

The C7 is a smoking hot car that is REALLY growing on me fast, and I we know that every couple years GM likes to come up with its latest and greatest high HP crazy performance Vette, to keep sales rocking and to be the king of the hill vs Ford and Mopar, and my guess is that the upcoming C7 Z06 will probably have between around 600 HP, with the a C7 ZR1 (or whatever else they call the next high performance model in a few years) making at least 700 ponies.
Million dollor question- Do you agree or disagree, that the upcoming C7 Z06 to be unveiled in the Detroit auto show in a couple weeks will have have as much HP (638 ponies) and will not be as fast as the C6 ZR1 in all the popular performance categories.
We are living in some exciting times regarding the modern HP wars and one would think that since the 2014 Viper makes 640 HP and the 2013 Mustang makes approx 662 HP, that the new high performance C7 Z06 to be unveiled in January might beat those HP numbers to be top dog when it comes to HP made, b/c as we know there is a lot more to the car than HP, but HPower does sell all day long and the big 3 love to be top dog when it comes to that topic.
Thanks for your intelligible input!

I don't think the performance of previous generations Z's matters to GM's strategy for the C7 and its Z's. Given the performance advantages of the C6 over the C7 in braking and handling, I expect the Z06 to edge the C6 ZR1 very slightly.

The C6 platform is old news. That includes the ZR1. I would be surprised and disappointed if the C7 Z06 isnt faster and better then the ZR1. Especially if were not gonna get a C7 ZR1.

I believe the C7 Z06 will edge out the C6 ZR1 in all levels of performance.

Look the ZR1 is an old platform...the car came out in what? 2009? It was hot ****, it's still a force to be reckoned with, but I think too many people have their heads up their collective behinds if they think the Z06 isn't going to be the new king on the track. GM needs to get all those people who would plunk $100k down on a Corvette to ante up again. I have a feeling that the Z06 option list will be able to make a $100k car (CC Brakes being the single largest contributor to that).
The C7 Z51 is nipping the heels of the Z06 at racetracks with 50 less horsepower and 200 pounds more weight. Trust me the Z06 is going to melt brains when it comes out and a lot of exotic car manufacturers are probably looking at this unveiling with as much interest as we are, to see what those "uncultured Americans" have up their sleeves. I'm just as excited to see the C7-R as well...it's kinda like when the Ford GT40 set the racing world on its head all those years ago.

Whether the Z06 has 525-540 hp or 650-675 hp, depends upon what the price point the Z06 comes in act - more that 540 hp will require either a turbo or supercharger, and the price of admission will be $110k+; 525-540 hp should be doable with a 7.0L version of the 6.2L and they should be able to get the base price down to $89,995 in the C7 2LT trim.

My guess is they will raise the bar on performance over the C-6 numbers.

C7 z06 will out track the previous generation.
Horsepower wise? The Zr1 was detuned by gm to 638hp.
I have no doubt the new LT4 can exceed those levels and I believe gm will as long as it can safely contain the power .
Which I believe the new c7 technology allows.
More power and faster is my vote

The success of the C7 has been around the fact that the car is completely changed, improved and extremely well rounded. My guess is that the C7 Z06 will continue down the path. The real focus IMHO will be the N.B.Ring time. The standard C7 has shown where their heads are at. They will continue to polish all the attributes that have made the C7 so successful. It will turn the performance car world up-side -down. It will do it with 650 or less HP! It will be an animal.

I really don't think there will be a zr1 again , I thought they were going to drop the Z06 and just have the ZR1 but we see that is not going to happen . I think the Z will be in the 700 HP range . and will out perform the c6 ZR1 ....................! on a side note Jimmy what happened to you, you like the c7 ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! never thought that would happen ?? lol lol

My understanding was that the c6 z06 could beat the zr1 on a track as it is. And furthermore, the c7 z51 is very close on the track to the z06 (gotta love that e-diff). Logically, I'd expect the c7 z06 to be considerably faster (on the track) than the zr1 currently is. In a strait line? Not sure, but that's not what the z06 has been about from the beginning anyways.
