Default Painted A-pillar

Quick chop. Doesn't look too bad!

And the next just for fun...playing with the silhouette

Chop looks better than reality. Another member did it and the lines just didn't seem to flow. AW if memory serves.

From the windshield back it starts looking like a 90's Nissan 300zx (which has the A pillars painted and a more rounded rear end).

looks amazing to me. make the rear end monocolor except for the lower vertical air vents and it's as good as possible.

looks very Italian and gt cruiser rather than boy racer/kit car.

are the lines on the top photo stock and just the pillar photo shopped red or did you chop the top a little too?

Painted A-pillars should have been incorporated into the design from the drawing board stage. I'm not sure how well it flows as an after-thought however. It could work well on certain colors.

these fantasy examples do not cover the whole pillar like the white example in another thread.
his shows the pillar and hence the white paint flaring out at the bottom. that is what looks odd from a linear point of view.
the line flows nicer here but will be a problem in the real paint world of just painting part of th pillar.

Making a car your own with changes/additions/deletions whatever is part of the bondiing process between man and machine. If you like it do it...she's your baby !

I never noticed how far the lower part of the front bumper sticks out. Damn Europeans and their pedestrian safety standards. I wish GM didn't have to worry about selling into Europe.

Looks good but I personally like the constrast of the black A pillar. I think the black rear fascia, A pillar and vents all work well together (especially with exposed CF roof and black wheels) and make the car look exotic and aggressive. Everything painted body color seems to "soften" the look a bit which, I suppose, some might prefer but, for me, I like it as it is

2 points...actually already made but repeated for emphasis:

1. The photoshops don't show the front or front quarter view and the way the A pillar flres out at the bottom. Painted body color, it just looks heavy and odd to me. The black blends with the windshield and disappears.

2. With the top out (as mine is if the sun is shining and the temp is above 45 degrees) the painted pillar looks like a broken line or incomplete arc. The black A pillars look much better, IMHO.

It's your baby. Don't let anyone tell you what you should or should not like. For me, I think the painted A piller on a C7 makes it look a lot like a Ferrari. Personally that is one design element of the Ferrari I don't care for. But, if YOU like it, that's all that matters.
