I sold my 14 GT500 to get into a C7, that video has been on the other forum for awhile.

With over 200 more HP I'm surprised the Shelby's numbers weren't better. The car is a beast.

Three things make it slower than you might expect: you just can't put 662 hp to the street under 50 mph; it weighs 550 lbs more; and 200 hp as a percentage isn't as much when you are talking 460 to 660 than it is from 200 to 400 - want proof look at the number for a 1,000 hp Bugatti.

With the exception of straight line acceleration, the Corvette came out on top in all the other categories they mentioned. After giving up 200 hp, I think the C7 made a very good showing for itself.

The stopping and handling will be more noticeable than the acceleration differences.

C'mon...11 feet from 60-0...you think you are going to notice that?

I will agree that you can probably feel the difference in a slalom-type scenario.

I ran a paper plate Shelby a few days ago on the highway...we had a nice wide open area, and made 2 runs from around 50-160.

A top Mustang muscle car did not beat the C7 base model by much in a straight line.

2nd and 3rd gear the Shelby pulled out on me by about 3/4 car total. When I hit 4th I crept back, and by the top of 4th was even, shifted to 5th and started to pull away until he let off when I was about a car ahead of him. Same result both times.

A Mustang and a Corvette are not at the same level.

A Shelby Mustang and a Z51 C7 are in the neighborhood of same pricepoint, and a worthy comparison.

That was obviously a very poorly driven GT500 (if, in fact, it was a '13/'14 GT500).
From a roll, a stock '13/'14 GT500 is going to pretty convincingly beat a stock C7 of any variety. From a dig, it would be a different story against an A6 C7, and probably the same result against an M7 due to the torque management GM built into the car (although the GT500 has its own "electronic powertrain feature"/clutch protection).

11 feet is huge. It represents 10% better braking difference and about 2/3's of a car length.

That 11 feet could mean the difference between new diapers or a ride in a waaaambulance.......

11 feet is a good amount. that would be like saying 1.1 sec on a 1/4 mile.

Referring more towards the comment of 'noticeable'. As in "The C7 brakes feel sooooo much better than the Shelbys".

No denying the C7 stopped faster.

Both were very consistent...and the same result. So, you are mistaken...sorry. The GT500 is very overrated, and a brick. They are quick, but their power distribution/weight greatly impair them, along with their lack of aerodynamics. I have run many of them in a variety of cars, and always was disappointed in their performance, especially considering how hyped up they always are...so no, the guy knew how to drive, the Mustang just failed to deliver. I have over 400 videos on youtube with the Shelby in several of them...lol

It's a true pony car. lots of power, not really good at putting it down.

I mean look at the ZL1/Z28... with less power and more weight, they run circles around GT500. they're true hybrids. it takes the GT500 100 more hp to outrun the ZL1 by mere seconds on the nurburing.

That being said, I did consider it, because that's alot of HP, and I like HP. but it would have been bragging rights and that's about it. with that much power and the skinny tires they put on that thing, i'd be sitting still burning rubber from a dig.

Sorry, but I'm going to call BS here.
I own one. I have drag raced it extensively (ran 11.3 at 127 bone stock on stock tires), and currently track it. I also own a C7. And I'll guarantee that I'd gap a C7 from a roll pretty badly in my GT500. I ran my stock C7 against my buddies stock '13 GT500 with DR's at Atco, and although I took the win light, his ET was quicker and his mph was 5-6 mph higher. From a roll, he'd have easily beat the C7 and if you have a 1000 videos on youtube it doesn't change that.

Yea...true. It just cracks me up to see people say a particular car will convincingly beat something else when they obviously have never experienced it. lol. I have a couple other cars too, and have run them a number of times, and been a passenger a number of times in other vettes running them.

Yea, their tires are small, and not saying at all that the car isn't quick, and can't burn rubber...just doesn't hold up to all the hype.
