Why buy a 14 now??

Have they announced the end date for 2014 production?
Speculation from a forum dealer in PM was that they were geared up to run the 2014 build until June/July. So, add a couple months to that for a 2015 order (including any delays due to the surge of Z06 orders that need to be built) and you're probably going to miss next summer in a C7 if you don't buy a 2014.

Normally you can order until early June, and production ends for that model year in July. Again, same time frame every year.

That's the same time frame every year. Nothing new. This model didn't come out late. It was just anticipated for so long it seemed like a long time until it was produced.

The OP asks the question as if come January they are going to produce 2015's and you'll have them in prime "Corvette season".

Bunch of uptight morons running around the forum today. It was a simple question. No reason to get your panties in a twist over it.

Just curious as to why anybody would want a 14 now with the 15's not that far off??
With the 14's having such a short run and being produced later than usual why get a 14 now knowing that you're going to take a big hit if you go to trade it in when the better models come out?
And for the northern buyers it's even worse since the car will probably be in storage till spring.

GM has manufactured 10,000 units and initial problems should be solved. If history repeats, referring to the C6, 2005 and 2006 models were identical with the exception of computer soft ware updates and the addition of GM badging. Soft ware issues were later addressed on the 2005. The threat of a price increase and that C6 values continue to decline, could equal thousands of dollars lost just waiting. Not to mention one summer without the new model. Expect my car to deliver in February/March.
Added two additional gears in the auto transmission.
Changed the steering wheel design.
Increased the strength of the differential housing and CV joints.
Added advanced dual-stage frontal air bags with passenger sensing system.
Added XM Sat radio to Bose stereo.
Added Titanium gray interior color.
Added storm gray convertible top color.
Dropped millennium yellow exterior color.
Dropped Magnetic Red exterior color.
Dropped Steel gray interior color.
Dropped performance axle ratio for the auto transmission.
They also got rid of the stupid requirement to put the car in reverse before shutting off the engine with the manual transmissions for 2006.
And, most important...they Added the Z06 model in 2006.
I would say there were a few changes other than some software updates.
2005 MSRP...coupe $43,710, convertible $51,445.
2006 MSRP...coupe $43,690, convertible $51,390.
Oh, and the second year 1998 C5 didn't have an increase in MSRP over the first year 1997 C5.
AND.......................discounts were greater in the second year of production for both the C5 and the C6.

Why would somebody buy a 2015, when they can get a 2016 with more features than a 2015 and the 2015s will be on discount because the dealers will have more of them and trying to get rid of them. This topic is kind of ridiculous...

Exactly!! The funny part is "reports on this forum say".. I am sure the forum folks don't know exactly what is going to happen in 2015. The A8, may or may not happen. and if it doesn't until 2016, who would want to buy a 2015? Then who would want a 2016 because "Don't ever buy the first year of something"..lol So, looks like the folks who are waiting should wait for 2017 to make sure they are not buying the first year of the technology".....lol Then the 2014 folks trade theirs in and buy a 2018 and we will have superior technology over the 2017 folks who decided to wait because they don't want to be the first to buy new technology...looks like the 2014 folks are the smarter ones now..lol

The point was it didn't have a short run. Production start and stop is normal. Every year about the same time.
As halfmoon said, you will not get a new '15 model in January.
We were simply answering your question with the normal production timing. As for other reasons as to why wait, they have also been answered.

There were basically zero changes in the base C6 from 2005-2013. Not including GS, Z06 and ZR1 which all still had the same basic look with bigger power, and different wheels.
We're not here for a long time, we're here for a good time! I won't wait any longer hoping for some better dream to come out of an already spectacular new Vette. I waited since 04!! Ten years! The car I've been waiting for IS HERE AND NOW!! Yes...I live in central Florida where Vette time is 24/7/365
