The chrome/paint/black debate will never be settled when comparing two cars side by side....now stroll both cars through a parking lot at 5mph and you don't even notice the non-chromed wheel car....it just fades in the background while the chrome wheeled car wheels just pop to beyond belief with the sparkle of a mesmerizing kaleidoscope effect (oh wait....I guess if you're under 40 you probably don't even know what a kaleidoscope is )!

Had factory chrome wheels on my z06 and several other cars . Sorry but like it better. I have had people of various ages tell me black wheels make a car look like a police car.
Each to his own. I do think that I prefer at least shiny black to dull black and that a silver black combo can look not too bad. I also don't like the matt wraps that are kind of popular these days. I like my shine on rims and on paint. YMMV.
That all said am likely leaving my SL55 and Porsche 911 turbo wheels factory.

Silver, chrome, black- whatever and at whatever age !!!!! Isn't that the reason we all love vettes? They're like art work that can be tweaked to our own desires. Of course everyone views them totally differently so there are as many opinions and desires as there are corvettes. As long as you drive and love it and it reflects you, then it just doesn't matter what others may think. To all- Knock yourself out !!!
Only Corvettes can make this happen these days !!!!!
Save the wave!!!!

Is chrome pricey? Sure. But you answered your own question. Painted wheels are dull. That's it. They look cheap. Like tin. And don't match the car. Look at any C7 body. Any color. The paint shines. Then look down at the painted wheels. Fogged up. Milky. Dull. A mismatch. Why would anybody want that on an otherwise gorgeous, high-end car? To save money? That's not the place to save, IMO. Too visible. Too public.

Went silver when ordered and then going aftermarket. Will see what's out there and looks best with the CRM in the aftermarket. Unfotunately the GM/Dealer offerings are too limited and similar to each other and pricey. As for chome, as stated by others, after a few miles they look dirty with brake dust , I've also noticed a year or two they start to get pitted unless your obsesive about waxing them every time you wash them (often).

I went with chrome on my C6 primarily because the dealer threw it in at no charge. I made it clear to him that I was not willing to pay for the chrome upgrade. Although chrome looks better to me, I am perfectly ok with the bright silver (hyper silver?) wheels if it means saving a couple of grand.

I live in mild So Cal, so maybe that has something to do with it. I drive Coast Hwy to Santa Barbara, SLO, and SF. Vegas every new year.

agree
my chrome wheels look like factory new. love the shine against the contrast of armor all ultrashine. ill take chrome anyday!
Pitted? Brake dust? I've had factory chrome on my 2006 Z51 for the last 7 years. Gorgeous as the day I bought em. Like mirrors. No special maintenance. Just a bucket wash every 2-3 weeks at the local car wash.
