What is Mulan leather?
I went to a dealer yesterday and sat in an absolutely incredible Lime Rock green, 3LT coupe. As a 3LT, it had Napa leather and it was as good as any high end car that I have sat in. The salesman, a very knowledgeable guy told me the mulan leather has no leather smell and is some kind of processed leather made from scraps. I had heard this was the case with the C6 leather. So, is mulan leather really leather SPAM (the canned meat product)?

This is what it is and yes it's kinda like spam. And sort of leather. Kind of
It's also sometimes called bonded leather. It's a mixture of real leather and some sort of synthetic vinyl like chemical bonded together. I guess this is where the term Pleather comes from.

You can always have the seats recovered by a custom shop in anything you choose. Heck my 2013 seats are half cloth the sides and back are cloth. I'm going to have mine re done. The C7 3LT suede is really a fake synthetic cloth also.

All leather surfaces in the C7, whether they are mulan or napa, are real leather. GM wanted to seperate itself from its competitors by using real leather and not leatherette.

I think it depends on one's definition of leather. There is real leather used in composite leather, but from what I gather, it is like comparing hotdogs to steaks. They are both meat.

The truth is, the less "fine" or supple the leather is, the more rugged it is and the better it wears. For instance, "glove" leather is very soft but mars and damages very easily. would never be able to take the beating of a car seat. i'm pretty sure these GM guys, after 100 yrs, have an idea of what they are doing...JS?
I'm still partial to Corinthian leather out of the '78 Chrysler Cordoba.
