Order sequence ?
My wife ordered a C7 convertible from the local dealer on 10/25. I'd like to check with them and find out the status of the order.
What is the sequence of events that have to happen before we get a delivery date?

Hey LEJ ZO6,
Come on over to the thread and provide me your order number. I am more than happy to check your status. There is a lot of information on that thread. Hokie is right it is under the C7 General Discussion, it is a sticky.
Thanks Hokie!

I see you wandered over from the Florida forum. Not much happening over there!
Congrats on the wife's order. Your dealer will have a six digit alpha/numeric order number once it has been placed in the system. Your best bet is to stay close to your dealer for updates, AND use the Chevy Customer Care people that are on this forum. Marissa, Kelly, Sarah and the rest of the gang over there can be very helpful in keeping track of your order.
My vert was actually completed last Friday and I am waiting on GM to officially release the verts for delivery. Then I will fly up to the museum and take delivery there.
BTW, here are the various build codes that you will encounter during this process.
Code Description
1000 Order On Hold at Dealership
1100 Order Placed at Dealership
2000 Order Accepted by Chevrolet
2050 Order Changed
2500 Order Preferenced (or "Picked Up" or "Imaged")
3000 Order Accepted by Production Control
3100 Order Available to be Sequenced
3300 Order Scheduled for Production
3400 Order Broadcast (Internal Plant Order Produced)
3800 Vehicle Produced
4000 Vehicle Available to Ship
4D00 On Hold
4B00 Bayed
4150 Vehicle Invoiced
4200 Vehicle Shipped
4300 Intermediate Delivery (Stingray in Nashville for Quality Check)
5000 Vehicle at Dealer
I hope it helps!

Thanks for the info !
I see people posting these numbers but didn't know the significance.
I even need some more basic info. Things like has the dealer submitted the order to GM, do they havbe an allocation, what order does that stuff come in ?

If the order is accepted 1100, dealer has allocation. The order number and allocation group are all on the pliminary paperwork. My dealer's group is VETALL.

From what I have seen if its 1100 the dealer hasnt "used" an allocation "if" they have one. I believe once its 2000 the dealer actually used an allocation and the process starts.

My experience has gone like this so far...
Put $1000 down in Sept...
Dealer called and said they had an allocation I could use on Oct 29th. I got an order number and immediately went to code 2000.
2000 - 10.29
3000 - 10.29
3100 - 11.1
3300 - 11.5
3400 - 11.14
3800 - 11.21 VIN 8062 Built
It's a Z51 too.
Hope that helps.

The pliminary order that the dealer gave me refers to an allocation group. Somewhere I read the order has to be correct; options, allocation etc. before the system accepts the order. I'm thinking once the preliminary order is accepted in the system the allocation is assigned. One thing I'm seeing is there appears to be a window (date) when a dealers allocation gets picked up by GM and assigned 2000. The date is probably part of the allocation and order will not get picked up untill then. ????

Hopefully the dealer will give you an order number. Congratulations on ordering a C-7

That proves allocations have a date associated with it. I think dealer knows actual assignment date, or has a good idea. Dealer will not jeopardize sale by providing actual assigned date unless slot is immediately available. In my case I think either December or January, dealer wanted pre delivery trade on my C6. Proves to me, I will not see 2000 for some time.

Thanks for all the info guys !
I guess I'll contact the dealer and see if I can get the order number. That will get the conversation started, anyway.
We did the pre-delivery trade also. Didn't want to take the chance of a long delivery, putting a lot of miles on the C6 and having it depriciate even more.

When you get the order number ask him for a copy of the GM Workbench, which is a basically a picture of the screen that he is working in. That will give you your status. If doing this by phone just ask him what is your build status code. If he tells you 1100, that means he has placed your order into the system, but HAS NOT assigned one of his allocations to your order and you need to find out why. Does he currently have an allocation? Does your order have an option that is currently on constraint, which is keeping him from assigning the allocation to your order? If he tells you 2000, then he has assigned the allocation to your order and you are now started in the process. Absent the allocation, you can sit at 1100 forever.
Good luck!

Does that mean that your order is at 1100 because of the constraints? The constraints are difficult to deal with, but hang in there, you are better off waiting and getting exactly what you want instead of compromising.
Mine is Z51 vert with the CF dash too, and it was built on 11/15. You will get yours too!
