Wow I just checked with Allstate to find out what a C-7 Z-51 will add

Insurance is a scam, don't wreck the car, park it in a decent spot. Watch out for other drivers. I pay @500 per year through Geico, I also use USAA in another state. Both are reasonable. But I am also an old fart with a good driving record and good credit and no accidents. They check everything now.

Premiums are all based on the actuaries, then modified for the driver's record, location, age, etc.
Owners tend to take better care of their Corvettes so there are fewer claims and less loss as a percentage of insured value. It has been this way for a long time.
We also tend to be old and safe.

As other's have said, the average Corvette owner is older, which is one reason why insurance is so cheap. The other reason is that most Corvettes aren't driven much and are garaged most of the time.

For all you GEICO lovers out there.
You won't love em so much when it comes time for a claim.
Go ask your local dealer how much they like dealing with GEICO and why.

Had zero problem with GEICO when my son's VW Golf got caught in a flash flood and the engine had to be replaced. They paid the entire $4k bill, minus the $500 deductible without any delay or question; so, my opinion is colored by a very good experience with them. Plus, my premiums were not affected. On the other hand, NJ Manufacturers, my previous insurer, fought tooth and nail with the body shop over a lousy $100 bucks for an accident caused by another driver.

I have had Allstate for nearly 50 years. I am pretty happy with them. I was concerned that insurance on a C7 might be higher because of carbon fiber body parts. My agent says should be about the same as on my C6.

Not really. It's a business. Not a charity.
The scam is insurance fraud. Think how low our rates would be if there were not so many cases of insurance fraud.
Don't even get me started on attorneys foaming at the mouth chasing ambulances.
Have you ever watched TV during the day. Over 75% (I am not exaggerating... I counted) of commercials during the day M-F are for attorneys offering to make you rich if you have gotten in a wreck. "Screw, Ewe & Cheatem got me $475,000."
To avoid paying the insurance companies simply pay cash for your car and self insure... but good luck if you bump into someone. They now not only own your car, but also your house and if you have a business, they own that now too.
It's funny when folks complain about their rates going up after an accident.... They've paid in 12 or 13 thousand dollars over a 10 year period without an accident. Then they have a claim that pays out maybe $75,000 (2 cars totaled) or even $500,000 (injury claim) and think they are getting screwed because they paid a hundred bucks a month for 10 years without a claim and now all the sudden their rates went up $25 a month. Do the math and see how long it takes for the insurance company to be back at "even" with you.
ps. I'm not an insurance agent.... just posting a different point of view for you.

Not really a full apples to apples comparison, but from Geico the C7 quote for 4,000 mi/yr is $30 less per year than my 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee (7,500 mi/yr) and $110 less than our 2014 Acura RDX (12,000 mi/yr), but it is $40 more per year than my 2006 Z51 2LT C6 was.

I have no other sports car experience but with Safeco my yearly premium for my C7 is just under $700, my 2010 Tahoe is just under $600 yearly. Married, 55 years old, perfect driving record, 800 plus credit rating in Montana.

I have GEICO and pay $660./year as the second car on my policy. That includes a 7 year warranty on engine, drivetrain, and all electronics with a $250. deductible so after the 3 year warranty is up I still have an additional 4 years of coverage. The warranty only applies to a new vehicle so you can't add an additional car if it isn't new.
I've had GEICO now for over 6 years and have found them to be very efficient and great to work with. For instance, about 3 years ago I ran through a really deep puddle with an Acura TL and forgot that I had a bottom feeder air intake installed so the car stalled out but luckily I didn't try to restart it. GEICO then flatbedded the car to an Acura dealer which was 60 miles away and paid for all the repairs and towing which included about 3 oil changes one right after the other. GEICO was even aware of the aftermarket air intake system but still covered everything completely.
Of course insurance rates will depend on your demographics, age, clean record, etc. but I would definitely give them a try.

For you Geico customers.....You guys may want to check the Viper forum. One guy took two of his Vipers to the Viper Invitational which is put on by Chrysler each year. He put up videos on YouTube of him doing the little autocross in a parking lot, and him doing a controlled speed drive around a NASCAR oval (all part of the Chrysler sponsored event). Geico sent him a cancellation letter specifically citing that video. Wait, it gets better....Other people at the event then started getting cancellation letters from Geico plus one other company as their cars were identifiable in the videos.
