Default Like my chocolate Z51 rims?

I love the black rims, only after 2 weeks of driving my new vette they turned to chocolate!

Here it is again after I washed it today

That's funny... first reaction was errrrr....

btw, silver rims quickly become the very expensive magnesium wheels found on the C5s

That's over my head...please explain. (I know the mag wheels pricey, considered fragile, became unwanted, and many cars that did not order them received them no charge.)

When I ordered my early C5 (Feb 98 delivery) there was a mag wheel option for $3,500... big cartwheel mag wheels. They were sort of silver with a golden tint. Lightweight I'm sure, but I never liked the color and did not order (or get) them.

Really makes me keep my C7's silver wheels clean. But then, they are always getting cleaned, I've been known to hit two self-serve car washes a day on my road trips. Drives my travelling companions nuts.

Its white and I don't drive it much so once every two weeks is fine for me. The rear end though... I gotta wipe the dust off every time I get back home...

You could call them your "Hersheys" wheels.

The brake dust turns black wheels to chocolate, and would subsequently turn silver wheels to a similar color as the C5 magnesium wheel...

I like the chocolate color. Too bad I have the chrome wheels. They will never look as good as that when full of brake dust.

Don't really care for the chocolate color - good thing you washed them and got the color back to black. Much better now.

They would probably look good if you have the Brownstone interior.

Thank you for the replies about the C5 mag wheels.

And yes, that is a lot of brake dust! Better than being a garage queen!

For what it's worth, C6 Z51/later F55/GS/Z06's dusted like that also. Performance brake pads do that, if it bugs you (and you aren't going to track the car), replace the pads with ceramic and no more dust (or very little).
