Default Chevy Dealers/No Allocations

Just curios folks! My recollection, only 900 of 3000 Chevy dealers with allocations for the C7. When might the excluded dealers be able to order the C7?

Now. Other dealers will be getting cars with this second allocation.

The dealer still has to cough up cash for the necessary training and equipment before he can order a vette.

Maybe "excluded" is the wrong word... maybe "participate" is a better word to use... The dealers that got large allocation have been "participating" in moving the Corvette product in previous years.

My local dealer knows how anxious that I am to get mine. The delay is not his fault and it's not the sales team's fault. I'm always treated warmly there and will stick with them. This axiom will get a good one for me.

One of the best things GM did for both its dealers and Corvette loyal buyers, compared to what Ford did/does with the Shelby GT500, which is give every dealer an allocation of 2 or 3 per year, which is nothing more than a license to make a quick profit on two cars a year.

Think about it, to qualify as one of the 900 dealers you had to sell 4 or more Corvette's in both 2012 & 2013 plus the investment in tools and training. That is a pretty low bar, and yet 2,100 dealers didn't do so - why should they be rewarded with allocation when the 10 biggest dealers all by themselves sold 1/4 of all Corvettes in that same time span and about 500 dealers sold zero Corvettes in 2013.

To my amazement my local dealer just contacted me, Thursday. We are getting together in about an hour to discuss C7 Convertible. He promises a great "Deal"? Hope he has a sharp pencil!!

My local Chevy dealer is very small. Their tire machine can’t even handle Corvette wheels. From what I can tell, they sell exactly one Corvette every year. Always a Red base model with no extras that a local charity raffles off. This year’s C7 showed up about a month ago and the charity takes it around to various venues on weekends to sell tickets. Otherwise, it sits in front of the dealership.

I was surprised to see them get such an early allocation but their Corvette order has been consistent for at least the last ten years so maybe that counts for something.
