Default C7 Canadian Allocation (sold out)

Spoke to a GM regional sales rep today. Apparently, total allocation for the model year is slightly over 300. Dealers & customers are frustrated alike. Dealers with no allocation are livid. #1 Corvette dealer in Canada is sold out. There are no more to be had in Canada. Unless adjustments are made, only hope is a spot on a waiting list for 2015. I have a 3LT Z51 which I'll flip at a profit when my base 1LT arrives in the new year.

I'm sure as production continues there will be many more C7's making it to Canada. It's pretty much winter now anyways so patience will be a valuable virtue over the next 6 or so months.

How does one profit when the prep/PDI/ETC is like $1600.00, HST 13%, admin fee $500-700, air tax, blah blah blah......

It seems like 300 is too low for our great neighbors to the North!

Lucked out on the Z51 when the original buyer bailed...paid $1500 below msrp...no admin fee. I have a couple of interested buyers willing to pay over msrp. Won't have to pay HST on the 1LT. Does that answer your question?

Sweet price. Can you PM me where you ordered at?

----------

It is to my understanding that most dealers only got 2-5 allocations. This is sort of disapointing for me as I would have pulled the trigger on the C7 2 months from now. When does the 2015MY begin? When can you order those?

Its not correct, op must have been misinformed, that 300 number was for the calendar year(31 December 2013).

Many dealers got zero allocation. All ya can do now is leave a deposit with a dealer that has allocation for 2015's. Maybe you'll get it before the snow flies next fall.

Just going by what the rep said. Try to find an available allocation in Canada. Currently there are none.

Maybe some confusion with z51 constraints ...and with our winter time demand? My dealer has been placing convertible orders this week....no issues..and no Z51...for spring delivery.

Very odd. GM is handing out additional allocations above the original number that they told the dealers that they would receive, including the 500 Premier Editions(and another 500 when the convertibles start rolling), yet they can't supply enough allocations to fill the orders north of the Border.

Maybe if they had only built 250 Premier Editions for the US(since not all the Premier Editions are sold out) then that would mean that they could have given another 250 allocations to the dealers in Canada.

I talked to a few dealers lately that have no allocations. They have to turn serious customers away. Not to mention the profit on a car with no employee pricing.

Absolutely. ...every single client that wants Z51 and cabon fiber tops will be turned away......there's none available....constraints.

300 for the model year is well below historic sales levels. The C7 is a new generation with new pricing more comparable to the US, prices all of which should mean a healthy boost for sales, so unless GM cant supply enough cars I see more than 300 coming this way

This is sad to see. A lot of Canadians are going to end up shopping at the competition now. Way to go GM!

What, if any, is the economic penalty for purchasing a C7 from a US dealer and taking it to Canada?

US dealers are not allowed to sell to anyone that doesn't have a US mailing address. There are pretty stiff penalties for them if they do. So the only way a Canadian can buy a brand new Corvette from a GM dealer is if they also own property in the US. Otherwise the only way for us to get one is to buy a used one and import it up here.

How "used" does it have to be (technical maneuver if legal) and is there then an import tax?

No import tax...RIV inspection + HST
"Used" C7's on ebay if you want to pay a premium.
