Inspect it carefully, look under front end to see if they managed to damage that. Look for rubber from burnout on quarterpanels/inner fenders.
Hopefully I am wrong but I have already jumped to the conclusion someone took a joyride in your car.

I would tread carefully on this one. If you want to continue to use this dealer for service you gain absolutely nothing by trying to get somebody in trouble over this. Think of how they are going to treat you next time you come for an oil change. No damage was done and just remember to these guys its just another Chevy.

Even if they had to bring his car to another body shop, it doesn't give them the right to drive the OP's car.
When I bought my 2008 Accord Coupe. the car had a dent on the hood. They sent the car to their other dealer that had a body repair shop. They put my car on a flatbed and transported it there, they should have done the same with the OP's car.
They should definitely extend his warranty, no if or buts!!!

Yeah, been doing lots of traveling for work since I picked the car up. I dropped it off with only 63 miles on the clock. Has 90 on it now. I worry about someone breaking the "break-in rules."

I would first inspect the paint repair and make sure it is good. THEN tell the service manager it looks great and you want to know who did the work since you are sure to get chips in the future and want to know who to go to for repair. That way you have given the service manager no reason to create a "cover story" to explain excess miles before you find out the truth about whether it was done in their shop or farmed out.
If it wasn't farmed out and the dealership put on the miles then I would be royally p**sed.
Too late now but posting this on the forum potentially clued in the dealership. Since you list your location it makes it easy for any dealership personnel or friends thereof to give the SM a heads up to create plausible deniability.

I bought a Chevy cruze 8 months ago and one door had what looked like dirt or maybe a piece of string under the paint. Very weird. Anyways the dealer drove the car to a body shop one county over and I got the car back with 40 more miles on the OD.
it is very possible the car was taken to a different body shop.

For a driveability issue, service engine light repair etc. a verification road test is understandable. But for paint repair? Unless it was to another body shop would be the only explanation.
Unrelated but this also concerns me a little bit;
Our local dealer just got in a C7 that is not sold, I know of 2 people that have already taken this car for spirited test drives (probably many more) I would hesitate to buy a new one with several miles on it.

FWIW, some non-GM dealers I've purchased new cars from over the years don't operate in-house paint & body repair shops. Makes sense some GM dealers might farm this work out too.
Wishing you good luck with the repair!

Good luck to him on that one. I took my low miles C5 in for a recall for something that didn't require driving the car and checked the mileage when I dropped it off . When I picked it up there was extra miles put on it after they asked me to leave it overnight for a one hour fix. Apparently someone took it home in a heavy rainstorm down a muddy road because the underbody was covered with thick mud and the car was filthy. I contacted the customer service rep at GM and just got a voucher for $100. service at one of their dealers. Totally useless because I would never trust leaving it at any dealer for service. You can bet that his car was taken for a joy ride and he should be compensated with a new car.

****, I'd be pissed if a dealer drove my Hyundai 30 miles when it wasn't discussed beforehand. There is no good reason they would need to put that many miles on your car. Hopefully OnStar isn't reading the miles correctly or something.
If it's true they took your car for a joyride or just cruised around in it, good luck staying cool and not ripping the GMs head off.

I'm sure the op had to sign a form when the car was dropped off.
Likely it gave the dealer permission to drive the car "as needed".
Along the same lines, I'm sure the same thing happened in 2005. Today, with 05s selling in the low $20s, 30 miles more or less doesn't matter much.
Life is to short to obsess over a car.

I am subscribing to see the outcome. I have nothing new to add that has not been said already. And just for the record, I agree with finding out information first and then getting people in trouble for it.
