Reasonable Courtesy Delivery Charges in Houston?
Anybody in houston know of a dealer with reasonable courtesy delivery charges? Parkway Chevy said $2000, totally ridiculous, but they are doing it because they would rather me buy from them.

I'm paying $400 in San Jose, CA. Doesn't help you in Houston, but gives you something to compare to. You sure the price given to you doesn't include transport from the original dealer to the courtesy dealer? I was told if my vehicle wasn't switched to CA from NH fast enough to come to CA right from the factory, I could be looking at around $2K. But fortunately MacMulkin got it done!

Best price I got from local dealers (and I checked just about every one) was $600.
Gonna fly out to Idaho and drive it home. Much cheaper AND more fun!

Courtesy?
Many dealers don't see the value in courtesy delivery. Delivering cars for another dealer is not their priority. When we bought our C6 (two local with no available allocation), one dealer said no and one said $500. You aren't buying the car from them so the chance you'll use their service department is about the only upside. You might have some traction talking with a service manager promising to use his shop. Assuming you will of course.

Even finding a dealer 50-100 miles away, is still local, compared to 1,500 miles from the selling dealer. You don't have to use the dealer a couple of blocks down the street from you for a "courtesy delivery".

Finding it interesting that you have to find your own. We just purchased from MacMulkin, and they had already done a Courtesy delivery with a dealership within 60 miles from us, and they set it all up - we didn't have to do any research.

$300 Courtesy Delivery in Florida
Arranged a courtesy delivery with Autonation Chevrolet in Delray Beach, FL for $300.00. They were of course interested in selling to me but I explained I had already sold my C6 GS to them and I was getting a major sales tax advantage from my Texas dealer. They immediately followed up with my dealer in Texas.
Note: Great PDI manager named Zicky. He has been at the dealership since 1957. He is 90 years old and knows the process inside out.

I don't think it should be over $500.... and that is being generous.
$300 sounds more like a fair arrangement.
You know you are getting screwed if you are paying more in houston than they are in California.

Did you ask them the price before you told them what car? Or does it vary? I'm sure some are gouging Corvette buyers since they are mad they didn't get a chance to sell to you at 5-10K over sticker.

I never payed for a fake add on when I bought all my new vehicles. They all tried to add that ridiculous fee but I learned long ago working at the dealership it's just another way to increase revenue from unsuspecting customers. Some of you need to stand firm and have better negotiating skills.

THIS is how it should be for everyone. Also, why would a dealer with no allocations give anyone a hard time? It's not like they have the ability to sell you what you want? They should be grateful you picked them!

I bought my '09 ( in September '08 ) from a dealer in Michigan. They did the PDI and shipped it directly to me at my office. I did not have them ship it to another dealer. Why don't you have the dealer you bought the car from do the PDI and ship it directly to you?
