A matter of time for what? That thread is 4 years old. Jamie Furman did hit 10's in his gen 4 viper, but it aint going to happen with these new ones.

I agree. I am also interpreting the results as the Viper being faster when compared to the proper car. The tuned car comparison is apples and oranges. There is a lot of wishful thinking going on here, just typical owner bias.

I would be pissed as hell if I owned one of these Vipers and the thing went into reduced power mode after 1 run at the dragstrip or on a dyno. Whereas the cheaper, far less powerful C7 is able to consistently lay down awesome times not far behind the Viper because the car is able to effectively utilize the power that it has. Shows that GM did their homework in this regard.

That Viper is a gorgeous looking car, really puts the C7 to shame in looks but in every other way the C7 is superior. It will get really ugly for the Viper when the Z06 or whatever it's called arrives.

I'm talking about way more expensive and more HP than the Corvette.

You missed the part about the custom tune sir. GM did their homework on the factory tune, NOT the custom tune.

The consistent times were done with an automatic. Anyone's grandmother can get consistent times with an automatic. Who knows if the tune edited the shifting of the automatic as well. Lot's of variables that leave the performance questionable as far as how the car came bone stock.

There were TWO C7s there getting 11s at that time. One tuned and one stock. Why are you glossing over the stock car getting consistent times?

I sympathize with the Viper owners who laid out there money for a car that is sort of turning out to be a big bucket of fail. Hopefully SRT will step up and offer some programming changes to eliminate some of the features that are hobbling the car.
Because 11.4 at 124 mph on drag radials in ~650' DA is freaking laughable for a 640 hp 3300# car.

"From what I was told." I take that at face value. He saw one run an 11:47. He heard someone say the other car went 11.8. That's just me.

Don't get me wrong, I love C7's but I am just not convinced about the times based on this information provided

We already know that several cars have gone 11's and have gone a best of 11.67 at 119.68 mph bone stock.
That's a fact.

That's cool....but I believe Snorman got consistent 11s in his bone stock C7. So I attribute the first run of this other guy as getting used to the car. In other words...driver's fault...not the car.

Anyone who thinks the viper is not a high 10 sec car at 128-130mph needs help.

The new viper is dealing with a similar issue seen with the manual c7's at the track: The manufacture is covering their butts using computer nannies.

Nothing new really. Just don't think you'll beat a new viper in a base c7 if you happen to run into one on the street. Mph at the track is a clear indicator of how cars run on the street and nowhere will you see a stock c7 match the vipers 128mph. That's what the z06/zr1 is for.

I'm not on here very often anymore, so if I missed that, don't hate me. I'll read up more .

I've already seen 4 of them that have trapped over 120mph stock. They're the real deal.

I don't think anyone believes a stock Vette really is quicker than a stock Viper. The post, written by a Viper owner mind you, complains that as it is...the new Viper is a failure (due to computer or whatever) for not even getting the same times as the older Viper.

That means that Dodge got it wrong so far.
A stock BASE Vette getting into the 11s... means GM got it right.

The Viper engineers will most likely fix this with a software upgrade...but as it stands today....it can't even get out of its own way. (That was a joke...so don't get all defensive)
