Default Compartment in rear bumper?

As the title says, I was wiping the rear bumper and on the drivers side half way down there's what looks to be some sort of compartment thing that looks like it opens up? Anyone know what it is?

It's probably a cover that comes off and a tow hook screws in there.

I see this also. I'll give you a dollar if you pry the cover off and post a picture of what's behind it.

I was thinking that but the manual states it should be a flat bed that tows the car and Vettes have been that way for years and years....

There is a cover tray on top of battery where it looks like a screw-in hook should be there. I read somewhere that the C7's made for Europe come with this tool. The hook screws in under those removable pieces on other cars.
The hook is screwed into the car by the flat bed driver to hook his cable so he can pull the car onto the bed.
I assume it's the same for the C7.

That tool slot on the battery cover is for the emergency fuel filler funnel.

true, but if it doesn't run you need some way to pull it up on the flatbed
