Default Corvette Z06 is NOT a Stingray?

As I was following the news, videos, and photos of the new C7 Z06 today, I did not notice any "Stingray" logo, emblem, or script on the car. What gives? I hope I am wrong.

Because it is a Z06 and not a Stingray. How many badges would you want on it anyways...

You will have the Stingray, Z06 and Z07 and some day a Grand Sport or other middle of the road model. To most they will all look like a Stingray or maybe just a Corvette.

Fairly sure "Stingray" = "base" while Z06 is "base+1". If we see a ZR1/ZR-1 it will be "base+2".

I'm a youngin, "stingray" doesn't do anything for me. Names are just arbitrary designations anyway.

This was always the intention... Welburn said they "they called it a Stingray because it was too good to be called the base car" or something to that effect.

I agree Stingray = base.

I'm OLD and Stingray doesn't do anything for me either... Still much to fine of an automobile to be called "base"! I love the Stingray and the Z06.

There will be one in my garage....

There are only two C7 models, the Stingray and the Z06,
there are no Z51's or Z07's they are option packages, not
model designations.

This was addressed a year ago at the 2014 Corvette Stingray reveal in Detroit. GM research showed that Corvette customers like having a name/moniker for their car. People who bought the GS.. called it a Grand Sport. People who bought the Z06.. called it that. Same goes for people who bought the ZR1. Those that bought the "base" Corvette.. did not like calling it a "base" vehicle. So they named it Stingray.

Anyways.. Long story short.. "Stingray" is simply just a new name for the base model Corvette.

So for 2015 there will be two Corvette models offered:

Stingray - 6.2L 455hp
Z06 - Supercharged 6.2L 625+hp

Got it?

I love the look of the C7 Stingray, one on order. As for the Z06/Z07, not for me, the design changes spoil the look; front grill inlet, side brake cooling inlets, air dams etc. (fender flairs look horrid).

The Stingray is nothing but a plastic emblem. You take those
off the C7, you have a chevrolet corvette. Stingray is just
a name. You could get the emblems and glue them on
a C6, have a stingray. Grand Sport, Anniversary, Z51,
just names -- Marketing dept of gm --- sells cars.
