Drifting
You've never met my wife. If someone did that to her car (Brand new M3 vert) she would take a baseball bat to them. I'm only allowed to drive her car if I promise to take care of it and park way away from other cars.

I parked it as far away as possible. I watched the whole day's worth of video and there were over 10 other people looking at and getting really close to it. I didn't post those since they didn't touch it. This car is really an attention getter, even while parked.

car obviously comes with a P magnet installed but you might need to man the reject button just in case.
on the + side, it'd probably be worthwhile to have an 8 x 11 placard with your phone number on it to flash when you cross paths at 75 mph with an admirer that you admire. of course if you're in an area with lots of trailer parks a 'show your ****' bumper sticker might be as close as you choose to get. that's why there are no bumper stickers that say 'park your big fat tattooed overall wearin' *** on my new car'

Just curious if you looked at any other car video surveillance systems? I'm looking to outfit several vehicles and am undecided which to choose. I have seen some units which are suited for law enforcement but they come with a steep price.

Install pics posted on post #1. Also, I had to remove "sitting on car" video because it got 5000 hits (2000 in last hour before I deleted it) and was increasing exponentially with some not so nice comments on Youtube.

UV filter and installation
Two things I wanted to add to this thread:
First, I found this 37mm filter that fits perfectly on the front of the Lucas 7900. It should improve the output. I'll post pictures before and after once I get some footage.
It cost about $4.95. Here's the link:
Or you can buy the same thing from Newegg for $6 free shipping, no minimum purchase like I did.

Also, I found that you can actually mount the camera just in front of the rearview mirror. I opted to not use the plastic base but instead I used double faced plastic Velcro strips that are backed with 3M tape that I got for my last EZPass toll unit. I cut the strip in half, and placed one half on each side of the camera housing, then I affixed it right to the cloth covered header in front of the mirror. It stays far enough back where it's not immediately noticeable from the front of the car. It still provides a full field of vision but doesn't impede the view from the passenger seat.
