Default Cleaning black wheels

This is my first set of black wheels and I was wondering if any members had suggestions on cleaning products and or waxes they use on black wheels. Thanks.

I use a Big Sponge, regular car wax is what I use on them, they are painted and cleared just like a car.

By the way keeping them clean SUCKS, I will never have black wheels again.

Love the black wheels, I use a rag to clean them. Try it! Just be glad you didn't get a black car, then you really have a problem.

I'm planning on black wheels and was wondering what makes them harder to clean than silver or chrome

I would suggest using a thin-film polymer coating instead of a wax. For example, Rejex or Zanio. These make painted surfaces very slick. Makes it easy to remove brake dust, grime, etc.

exactly... wax is sticky microscopically.....wanna do something quick? use Nu finish avail at any auto parts store or grocery...lots of white powder dust off but 2 coats and brake dust will fly off with a hose.

better solution? -learn how to use Opti-Coat 2.0

Carnut12's Quote was....
"By the way keeping them clean SUCKS, I will never have black wheels again."

It's the same as a Black versus a Silver car.
Black looks dirty in a day or two, Silver takes much longer to look dirty.

Exactly what he said, it takes 2-3 days for them to look terrible IMO

It is worse than a car, at least a car stays clean if you do not drive in bad weather for the most part, wheels get dirty much faster than a car due to brake dust and all the crap kicked up.

I LOVE Hyper Black, to bad they do not offer it.

You nailed it!!!

Sorry I should have been more specific, when I said "Wax" I actually did mean something like Zaino or Nu Finish. I actually use Nu Finish only on my wheels, it works great, but they still get dirty fast.

Do you have black wheels? I do, it SUCKS, how is it useless bitching trying to warn the OP that he may regret this decision or at least making him/her aware of what can be expected.

Your thread is the only one in this post that is useless.

Agree - I use Rejex on the paint and the wheels. It helps reduce the dust that sticks to the wheels...and the dust that does stick is easily wiped off.

I knew what I was getting into with black wheels when I ordered the car.
My '12 GT-R has black HRE's on it.
One thing that I've found that makes cleaning wheels easier is this...
http://www.detailedimage.com/DI-Brus.../Full-Size-S1/

IMO, with the black wheels, you really need to clean the barrels. I've cleaned mine a few times already and it takes a few minutes a wheel. I just rinse them, use Mother's Car Wash soap and a sponge and the brush. Then dry them with an electric leaf blower. I have been using some spray detailer on a microfiber towel to finish them up and touch up the barrels. I'm really picky, lol.

I guess your right, it could be worse, at least my car is not black, I promised myself I would never go through that again.

I never tried Rejex, might have to give it a shot. Then again I just bought New Wheels, I think the Black are going in storage.

Well I will say the C7 are easier to clean then the C6. First off the barrel is more accessible, spokes are not a tight. And do we have ceramic brake pads? The dust on the C6 showed up immediately after a few miles, no so much on the 7.

The brush mentioned above.... for me it splattered dirt all over me. Brake dust will not wash out of clothes.

I have one of those frillie hand mitts and use a 5 gallon paint stick to weave in and out of the wheels.

The issue is not cleaning them vrs another type its that they show any and all dirt and you got to work on black. I use a solution, the hand mitt, rinse and then need to towel dry to get the water spots and remaining dirt off. No so on chrome.

No we don't have ceramic brake pads.
