Default How accurate is GM Customer Service?

I contacted Chevrolet Customer Service chat yesterday and was told my 10/10/13 order had been accepted by Chevrolet and awaiting a TPW. This was where it had been last week as well. My dealer says constraints have prevented him from submitting the order yet. Not sure if I understand this process entirely. Who's likely most accurate?

Your dealer will be more accurate. That is if they are looking in the right place and the right status.

Just because you are accepted it doesn't mean that you are ready to produce.

You might just be at 2000.

I think it's not until 3000 that you are cleared to be produced and constraints don't matter.

I'm sure someone that has more knowledge will chime in.

1100, Preliminary order accepted
2000, Order accepted by GM
2500, Order preferenced
3000, Order accepted by production control
3100, Order available to sequence
3300, Order scheduled for production
3400, Order broadcast
3800, Order produced
4000, Available to ship
4150, Original invoice to the dealer
4200, Shipped by the plant
4800, Bayed with the carrier
5000, Delivered to the dealer

I contacted customer service chat yesterday and they told me my car was still waiting to be shipped at the plant. Then I contacted the Chevy Customer Service on the forum (Kelly, Marissa, William, etc) and they told me it had been shipped already and that the chat people were wrong. Today my dealer said the car just arrived. So I would definitely not trust the chat.

How accurate is GM Customer Service?

^ Based upon the number of Posts here on member interactions with Customer Service, I would say on a scale of 1 to 10, their accuracy is a 'None Of The Above'

PS: I am not referring to the Chevy Customer Service Member of this Forum.

If your dealer has allocation, he can enter your order into GM's system. However, if something you ordered is on constraint, like Z51/ competition seats etc, then the car will not be built. It will stay in the system and the TPW will not change until the constraint is removed by GM.

Hey Jeff,

If you would like me to check on your order status, please PM me. A lot of times the wording provided does not match the exact situation of your Stingray and can be confusing. When they say accepted by Chevrolet (this assumption is without me looking at your order number) it could simply mean you are at 1100. This is the very beginning of the process. Your dealer entered your order, because you have a number but the order is not moving due to constraints.

Thanks michaelinmech, for your kind words! We do try here for y'all.
