Bel STI Driver (now called the magnum). I view radar hits by frequency, which lets me establish patterns in the local area and determine the type of radar guns LEOs use. Additionally, if you encounter a lot of LIDAR in your local area get a Laser jammer if legal.

Super units and a bit less expensive than the Escort and Valentine models. Have mine for a couple of years and it works flawlessly and has saved me a few tickets.

After reading everything I could get my hands on about Valentine and Escort, I went with the Escort 9500 IX. I read that it has very few false alarms and doesn't go off for garage door openers etc. That was the kicker for me. I installed the Escort and drove to town. It wasn't doing anything . I thought it wasn't working. It finally went off and sure enough there was the speed trap.

I sent my Valentine off to be upgraded to ver. 3.389 I think & it still falses on some of these avoidance systems, especially the Audi's.

So what I'd like to know is it difficult to get locked speed with a Kband radar gun on an Audi?

The Escort 9500ci is an old design & discontinued by Escort. Dunno what will replace it but you can find the 9500ci's on ebay for less than $1000..

Dashtronix hasn't said a word whether they're working on the new 2014 corvette to incorporate the radar into the HUD. Seeing how you can't even get the svc. manuals for the 2014 C7 from GM until April, I wouldn't expect anything from Dashtronix until this time next year.

Blendmount has had on their website for months now that a mount is in design. Come on! how hard can it be? If you look the BV1-2022 & BV1-2025 seem to work for our size mirror stems.

The Valentine Savvy messes with the OnStar, but as long as you disconnect it from the OBD connector once a month for a entire drive cycle so it can Xmit data back/forth, you won't have any weird issues.

Stealth Mirror & Radar Mirror have both said they can not integrate the Valentine One display into our new style mirror, at least, not without disabling & removing the auto dim feature & something else, which I can't recall at the moment. They can however integrate the Escort 9500ci if that's your preference.

If you don't want to spend an arm and a leg, the Escort 8500 is a good choice. Escort lists the 8500 as the "best value". I've had mine for 3 years and always warned in plenty of time.

I agree. I wouldn't think it would be that hard to modify one of their existing designs to fit the C7.

Does anyone have pictures of a K40 360i or similar laser jammer install? I'm unsure where the jammers can be mounted on our cars without being clearly visible?

Passport Max combines V1 sensitivity with GPS features of the 9500ix. It's buggy though and ~$600. When the bugs are ironed out this will be the one to have.

Below are a couple pictures of the K40 laser jammer on my C6 Z06 that I recently sold. Ideally the jammer should be placed in a spot at the very furthest point forward and rearward (for rear facing Laser Diffusers) on the vehicle. Most of the diffusers include a license plate frame mount which is for the best case scenario. I chose a more discreet install but the plate frame is the best solution. As far as being illegal, if you get stopped, you can simply say its a parking sensor as many of the aftermarket laser diffusers are sold as that to skirt laws. It's very unlikely that the officer will say anything regardless.

I've used K40 radar detectors for years in conjunction with their diffusers and never had an issue with the LEO's saying anything about them. I will most likely be adding a K40 360 to my C7 in the coming weeks along with the diffusers unless I hear from Dashtronix about the availability of their DIC/HUD integration for the C7 and Escort 9500ci. I love the idea of having my radar display on the HUD but they don't seem to respond to anybody's inquiries regarding C7 support so I'm not optimistic. While I like the Escort 9500Ci, I don't want their indicator or control box mounted to the surface of a panel in the car. The K40 is completely stealth and they works very well.

This is the one I chose especially because it shows the speed cameras in Tucson. Spent decades not getting a speeding ticket until I moved here and within 6 months one of the cameras got me. I didn't even know about them. If I had been running the Escort, I wouldn't have been tagged.

I am a radar detector and laser jammer geek. I have tested these systems and these are my ratings of the various systems. Please ask questions.

All radar detectors and laser jammer systems need to be set up (user preferences) properly. Running almost all radar detectors with the factory settings will result in compromised sensitivity, possible missed radar alerts and increased frequency of false alerts.

Installed remote radar detectors: Beltronics STiR+ > Escort 9500ci > Escort 8500 = Beltronics RX45 > Whistler pro 3600 >>>>>>>> K40

Windshield radar detectors: Escort Redline > Valentine 1 with v1 connect and fre android app available on google play YaV1 > Escort Max > Beltronics STiR Magnum > Escort 8500x50 Black = Escort SmartRadar > Escort 9500ix > Beltronics Pro 500 > Beltronics Pro 300 > Beltronics GX65 > Beltronics RX65 > Whistler pro 78 se

Laser Jammers: Antilaser Priority (AL Priority) > Laser Interceptor = Escort Laser Shifter Pro > Blinder HP 905 >>>>>>>>>>> Escort ZR4 (being discontinued) >>>>>>>>>> K40.

What makes the Escort Redline the best windshield detector in your opinion?

As I understand it the problem is how to wire not mount....I would be perfectly happy with escort max oem mount behind rear view mirror if wiring could be hidden.....

There was an interesting forum comment from a fellow who had the dealer replace a broken mirror housing and asked them to bring out 12 volt wires. They called GM who said the wires were not “tap friendly.” That explained to me why my attempt to tap the passenger vanity mirror light caused the circuit breaker to trip! I taped fuse 37 in the rear fuse panel, the one that is for the 20 amp auxiliary on the consol. Used a small piece of “D” molding to hide the wires to the “A” pillar then fit them under the pillar and other molding to the rear fuse panel. Full details on my web site www.netwelding.com/reports_vette_info.htm

My V1 is already wired with Savvy so I don't need the mirror tap. I just want a low profile mount to the mirror. I'm using a mirror mount I got from amazon and it's ok but it's a little clunky looking. I have a blendmount in my wife's Navigator and love the way it looks.

The Redline has the greatest range of all windshield mount radar detectors. This means that it can detect the lowest strength radar signals which will give you an alert earlier than any other radar detector. About a year ago Escort upgraded the firmware on the Redline that allows the user to turn of RDR (RadarDetectorRejection). All radar detectors emit radar. Some radar detectors primarily Cobra radar detector emit a lot of radar and will cause another radar detector to alert in the Ka band in the 33.6-33.7 range. Ka band is 33.6 - 36.0. Currently the only Ka radar guns used in the US are 33.8, 34.7, 35.5 and very very rarely 35.2. The new firmware for the Redline allows you to turn off the radar detector in scanning the 33.6 to 33.7 frequencies which will almost eliminate all false alerts in the Ka band. Turning off RDR allows the Redline to detect very short transmissions of radar that it was previously unable to detect. Many state troopers use this technique to obtain speed readings of vehicles without allowing radar detectors to warn drivers of the speed trap. The only other radar detectors that can detect these short signals are the Beltronics STiR+ and the Valentine 1 with Ka guard turned off.

I have a Valentine 1 and I love it. I love the bogey counter and arrows. The downfall to the V1 is its rear antenna that is so sensitive to K band, that is falses a lot more to radar automatic door sensors at stores, radar cruise control and blind spot protection systems. There are ways to reduce these falses, but is not as easily programmed as the Redline. The V1 has gotten easier to program, but you need an Android phone, and additional piece of equipment called V1 connection and an app from google play called Yav1.
