Front Suspension Noise
This is not a whiny complaint post...just looking for some constructive feedback.
When turning my wheels to the extreme limits at a very slow speed, i.e., parallel parking, I hear a clunk or shudder from somewhere in the front end. At first, I assumed it was normal, but I'm not sure now. Can any one comment on this?
I've heard a similar type of noise when turning my wheels at slow speed while parking my Jeep with the 4-wheel drive engaged. The Jeep dealership told me that was normal and I confirmed that with other Jeep owners.

I have had some noises coming from the front of several Corvettes that turned out to be NOT normal. Since your car is new, there shouldn't be any loose parts, but what I found was, loose upper control arms, loose wheel hubs, and sway bar end links with play in them. There was also a friend's car that had loose wheels. It is a lot easier to diagnose these things if you have somebody turn the wheel while you watch and listen.
Dealerships will almost always tell you a noise is normal.

OK, I called the 2 largest Chevrolet dealerships in Metro-Detroit. The service write guy at one was clueless. I then talked to the Service Mngr at the other and he was very aware and experienced with this issue.
He said it is not a problem but a performance tire and performance wheel alignment phenomena. He sent me the following:
PI1056A: 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray New Model Features - (Oct 7, 2013)
Diagnosis
The Michelin® tires may exhibit a chatter noise during low speed tight turn conditions (i.e. parking lot, driveway, etc.) when the tires are cool. The condition can be experienced in all directions: right, left, forward, reverse. The condition typically reduces or diminishes when the tires warms up, but may become worse when the pavement is wet. For these unique and aggressively tuned high performance tires, this is considered a normal condition.
Inform the customer the noise is tire hop and is caused by the large amount of tire scrubbing across the pavement as the vehicle is turned.

I'm a gearhead and sometime racer, but to echo another post above, I always check the torque of my key suspension fasteners, from the wheels to the control arms, and was shocked on my C6 to find a number of bolts simply not torqued to spec. Given other basic misses noted lately, such as diff fluid missing, I would not take it for granted that things are properly tightened.

Hey Alfie,
I hope you are enjoying your new Stingray! I am glad that you were able to find the information on the wheel noise from the dealership.

Melting Slicks
Today after my service for my dimming cluster, the service guy pulled my car out of the parking lot, when he made some turns he came out quickly and started to inspect for all tires thinking it was flat or something. I quickly ran out and told him its normal
