Discount on a C7?

My experience last week. I contracted three dealers who had vehicles in stock for sale. Did not find color or options I wanted but one dealer offered $1,000 off sticker if I would take one of the three he had in stock. I thanked him but passed. Three days later I received a call telling me they had allocation available and could get what I want probably in six weeks, maybe a little longer. If I took the deal they would sell for $1,500 off MSRP. Deals are always available if you look and they will get better in the next six months once the rush subsides.

Spending upwards of close to 70 grand and you are waiting for a couple dollars off...?
No offense but MSRP is not an insult if a car is priced correctly from the get go...
If you have the means and the current need? I don't really see the problem with paying MSRP....
We do it quite often in our lives in many areas of purchases....
I do suggest searching greg2000 forum member as I believe he easily receive a 2500 dollar discount on his purchase if it matters...
I also suggest you get a GM credit card as you can get a greater discount off as well.

My dealer sold his 3 coupe and 1 vert allocations for $500 under dealer invoice to corvette club members. All were sold quickly. I got number 2. I pick up mine hopefully next week (it is on its way to BG now). Very fair dealer. His rationale: buyers from the corvette club over the years allowed him to get the allocation (he is a small town dealer), so give the same buyers the benefits.

I agree but my C6 had almost 90K miles on it and the GMPP was about to run out so I thought it would be worth more and easier to sell while still under warranty. Was planning on buying a C6Z but the prices for a low mileage 2011 - 2012 are so close (or more in most cases) to the price of a C7 I've decided to go with the C7. I realize the differences, it's a personal choice.

These threads are getting tiring. There are those of us who have been enjoying our new C7's from the beginning. Then there are those who are wringing their hands watching us, delaying the pleasure of driving one to save a few bucks.
You can always make more money. You can't make more time.

Be aware of the fact that people that already paid MSRP for a C7 will tend to tell you that it will be longer before we see discounts than people that have not purchased a C7 yet.
It's just human nature. People's "educated" guess will be affected by emotion or their personal involvement.
We generally do not like to see that an item we just purchased can be had for less money only a short time after we purchased it.
We generally want an item we desire to come down in price sooner rather than later.

This is all off topic anyway. The OP is simply asking for people's input on when they think prices will come down.

If you take the emotion out of the decision and just look at the historical data, the discounts are inevitable. The early adopters get their car first, supplies are limited, then the floodgates open, all the dealers get them and then the fun begins. Unless GM decides to limit the production to make an artificial shortage, supply and demand will work it's magic.

5% is about $3K. Hmmm.... Expect a much bigger price increase than that in 2015. I doubt you'll see any mail in rebates, coupons or discounts until the 3rd qtr of 2014 when 2015 is coming out.

What facts do you have to support the thought that prices will increase by 5% or more on the 2015s?

Supply and demand. Pent up luxury spending up. Reviews... Likely be motor trend COY... I am going to bet the Z51 upgrade alone will double in price. Base up maybe 3points.

I really don't think it will be that soon but I also don't think it will be a full year out either. Somewhere in between and it could be a month or so into when the new '15 starts getting delivered. Pure guessing tho. If I were you tho and that was a hard number, I'd be looking anywhere in the country as in, travel a little and save.

I'm buying in March or April and I feel very confident I'll be able to order the car I want and get a decent amount off MSRP. Hope I'm right. I was able to find six vehicles available in dealer stock right now. Currently selling at MSRP with one dealer offering discount off MSRP.

Not likely to make an impact. The C6 came out with a A4, then went to an A6 the next year. You underestimate how many Corvette buyers don't even know when a new transmission comes out, or whether they care or not. There will also be buyers who don't want the new transmission the first year (I personally know a guy like that when the A6 came out on the C6)
