Default Transparent Top

Having a vert I've never been in a transparent top. How hot does it get in the summer? Live in the northeast so not worried about the melting heat of the south but do like the way it looks on the car.

I tried a blue lexan top once. (From my 2005) Ended up trading it even for an Artic white solid roof. Lets in way too much (FL) heat.

My 2014 came with the dual roof option and I sold the lexan blue roof back to the dealer for $1,000.

A blue roof on a TR car......nope.

Agree 100%. Having a transparent top makes the whole interior ambience much more open.

Plus (a city-dweller's take): no bad guys trying to rip open your top with a knife at night

The A/C is more than adequate to keep things cool. I like mine. I enjoy taking a glance upward to see the sky.

It's been discussed a number of times, and the opinions vary so much that it clearly boils down to your idea of what's hot, not really where you live.

I personally love the transparent top, and after I bought it for my C6 two years ago, the white one went in the closet and has never come back out.

I will only get the transparent top on the C7 (if I can ever get my order through the GM allocation and constraint system).

Cheers,
Rusty (FL Panhandle)

I love the transparent top. I actually had my car ordered that way before all the other constraints came out, and I wouldn't change it now. I love being able to look up and see the sky. It just gives a much better feeling as you are driving down the road.

I also love the transparent top. Had it on my C5 and I'm ordering a C7 with the dual roof package. I went with they dual package to give the Laguna Blue a different look from time to time.

Default Love it

Love it. Nice seeing the sky, tall buildings, trees, etc without all the wind. Heat never a problem. Have it on both C6 and C7. Absolutely no need for a painted top.

We're in the Atlanta area. Our '82 CE has transparent tops and in the warmer months when the sun is more direct it can get uncomfortable due to the constant sun exposure, not so much from the heat itself. In the fall and winter the transparent tops are great.

So I got both the transparent and body color tops for my Stingray. I swapped the body color out for the transparent a couple of weeks ago and will go back to the body color in late spring.

I have driven my C6 w/ the trans top since purchase (over 5 yrs) in hot climates (I moved from FL to cent TX). The painted top was removed the day of delivery and has never been back on the car. No matter what anyone tries to tell you its damn hot in the summer without the after market headliners. Not sure whether these are available for the C7 yet but they are a MUST for those of us who like the looks and ambience of the clear top. Good luck w/ the new ride!

Love my Targa top. It gets hot in Tennessee, the glass top has never been an issue.

I ordered both with my C7. The car feels a bit more solid with the Carbon fiber roof on since it's more insulated. However, the glass top is really nice too. It's nice to see the whole world around you while driving. I can see it getting hot here in Florida when the summer months come though.

There is an interior panel (after market) for the C6 transparent roof. Designed to be easily installed & removed. I suspect there will be one available for the C7 transparent roof.

i like the look of the trans top from the outside. inside it can be too bright at times from wrong sun angle, al gore in town, etc.
i put a window tint on mine to cut down the intensity.

another option for the florida crew is plasticoat the inside for the summer drives and peel it off when the sun is less intense.
i am going to try that on thec7 if it ever arrives.
