Default 'Ring time must be coming soon... Z28 is here!

7:37 for the Z28 which is fantastic! Given they were tested around the same time (or so I believe), I would expect the C7 time to be released shortly!!

It should be known, that the track was damp as is, and turned into a very wet track in the last minute or so. There is probably at least 4 more seconds in this car.

Last I heard with the Camaro and Corvette testing, was they were having trouble getting dry days when they had the track exclusively. This release seems to validate that.

I'm sticking to my C7 Z51 prediction I made last January...7:33-7:35.

I posted this in the above Ring thread. I think the driver said he may have ran a couple of seconds faster on a dry track.I don't know why GM never posted the C7 time? If it was a great time I think it would have been posted weeks ago?

That is a little low. I'd say 7:42-7:39

Is there a big difference in tires treadwear between the Z28 and ZL1?

We'll see what we'll see...wont we. If the track was wet maybe, but The handling and braking this car exhibits is exceptional...its gonna buy it time in the early downhill sections and after the carousel. Plus, Mero is developing further, so there is time in that itself. 7:35 or bust.

The Z28's are running Pirelli Trofeo R's which are a very sticky R compound. Great on a dry surface but not too good on wet.

I think the ZL1's are on Goodyear Runcraps and aren't very good on dry or wet surfaces.

I think it is possible. That is not a prediction, but a statement that it is possible. The Z28 is set up as a track car only - which means the suspension tuning is not going to be a compromise for street duty as even a Z51 is.

I have a sneaky suspicion that the numbers laid down by Mero so far are higher than the Z28 and they are trying to figure out how they can prep thy Z51 in a way that drops their times but isn't obvious it's not 100% stock. Special tire compounds or different leaf springs wouldn't be out of the question and would be difficult for any observer to catch.

As has been pointed out, the Camaro is track prepped, there is no equivalent C7 package, yet!

I don't think this is the case. The C7 has tested faster than a 911S on every track so far. The 911S is a 7:38 car on the 'Ring. If the C7 performs consistently to every other test, it will be faster than that relative to the 911S. Therefore, the same of better time than the Z28.

I don't think there is anything going on other than they either didn't have optimal testing conditions or they are holding the number for marketing reasons. Just my thoughts.

It looks like they did a great job developing that car. My guess is they are spacing out the release and trying not to steal the Z28's thunder.

So the Z28 is fast, but does it have a disappearing center display?
