As I always say, a picnic table would take off at 150 mph. Cars capable of that speed are designed to not have lift and remain firmly planted on the ground. Thus, one reason for the hood vents on the C7.

Just saw this in another thread:

Seriously, does this car generate downforce - it has no wings on it, is the underbody and the diffuser designed to generate alot of downforce at speed?

Supposed to be around 190 from what I've read.

I guess that explains why I never saw a T38 while I was on the flight deck. VR in the 777 varies a lot due to weight. A 200 holds over 300,000 pounds of fuel, alone. And I was talking mph, not knots.

At 165 plus all it takes is a sudden dip in the road to decompress your suspension and you could lose all that aero. Texas mile here is a cool event to try nice and flat.
Once over 200 you got to worry about crosswinds and tires.

lol...took the words out of my mouth...they use t38's in naval training but I dont think they were designed for carrier operation, even in training. 777 can be as high as 215mph takeoff loaded though.

Yeah, t38 airworthiness says 134 kias rotation, 162 kias takeoff...thats crazy. 175+ mph ground roll drivin with your feet on tricycle gear...stuff can go bad quick...lol. I always read a lot about military aircraft but never took much interest in takeoff speeds I suppose.

33,500 ft/min climb...damn, thats gotta be fun. I exceed 1100 and I'm like...hell yes! Haha. My dream was to be a pilot in the air force but, my eyes wouldnt have it. Now, at 36, they have literally self corrected to 20/20. Just GA aircraft for me...hopefully a fast composite kit build plane in my future.

well on my way back from lunch today, i foud a nice airstrip in mexico about 5 miles long

two adults in my car, ROOF OFF!, Windows up. we i leaned into it and was pulling hard all the way up, i planned on stopping at 160, and snapped a picture there (passenger not me)

but then it kept on pullin, 172 is the highest number either of us saw, but it didnt show any sign of stopping to accelerate and had a good but of rpm left in 5th gear. the roof off i know from previous cars make a pretty big difference, so i really doubt this car stopping anywhere near 185, i think its got 190 in her pretty easy

It should hit 190(the C6 did), but above that I doubt it. At 6000 RPM the horsepower falls off much quicker than the C6's LS3(both being the same at 6,500 RPM), so running above 6000 RPM in fifth gear will be difficult to achieve.

I hear what you're saying, but the 5th gear in the z51 trans is actually taller at .71:1 and allows 197mph at 6000rpm...now the aero of the C7 may not allow it to get there

Or a limiter, if the report was accurate... Anyone had one on a dyno and gotten it into the upper ranges?
