Default 2014 orange peel

My 2014 vette should be in any day now. I am worried
about the cars i have seen, as they have orange peel
really bad on the front and rear fenders. My color is CRM.
Has any been in touch with their dealers about this problem,
and if so, what are they going to do about it. For 74k, there
should not be this much problems with the paint. I thought
about wet sanding but who knows how much clear is on the
car.

Wait until you get it. Mine has minimum Orange Peel and you have to look very hard to find it. My 12 MB had it also, so I feel it is a by product of today's paint systems.

If you dont want orange peel, buy a Ferrari or Lambo. You'll find orange peel on just about every car, on every area of the car these days.

If yours has it, just do a polish, seal and wax.

That will correct a great deal of it.

It is sad that in this day and age, of high teck everything that this would be a issue.I have looked at six of the 10 colors, all had orange peel,"looks like a repaint job."Yes I still ordered a torch red and it show the worst along with black. In a fairness you have to really look but when you pay $70,000 it still sucks.RSL

You can thank the EPA for the peel (water based paint).

I had to bring mine to the dealer today for an alignment issue and to get the PTM working. I spoke with the service manager who said that he has seen a couple of cars with the issue, but most cars are okay. Mine for one has perfect paint.

Not to disagree but I would have to see that...

I have seen Orange peel on almost every brand of car. It is not exclusive to the Corvette.

I saw a brand new Ferrari FF that had way worse Orange Peel than my car.

It is more of a result of modern "environment friendly" paint than which manufacturer is applying it. The few that don't have Orange Peel have it removed after painting by wet sanding and polishing. But that is also reflected in the higher sticker price. It is something that can be mitigated but not entirely eliminated from factory paint jobs unfortunately.

One can always pony up and have the car wet sanded but it is a tricky process that requires real skill not to mess up.

Bill - while I'd love to take a million pics and post them for you, I don't have that kind of time. I'm sure if I took a magnifying glass I could find some issues; generally speaking the paint job is great. Much better than the Infiniti I traded for my C7. I have a couple of other minor issues (alignment, and had to reset the PTM) but nothing I am overly concerned with.
