Default To MSRC or not.....

Hey guys, I just put in my order for an AW Z51 with NPP and am really on the fence about adding the MSRC option. I had a C6 Z51 and the ride felt fine to me. My girlfriend on the other hand is not a fan of a harsh ride and I was wondering if the tour mode on the MSRC would solve that problem. So for those of you with experience driving a C7 with the Z51 and a Z51 with MSRC, any input would be greatly appreciated.

I would recommend ordering MRC on the c7 z51 from both a performance and ride perspective. Go for it

I have no personal C7 seat time with Z51 & MRC to share - I can say that every article I have read, writtenby folks with drive time in the car, have all strongly stated their opinions to include MRC in Z51 C7s.

Owned a C5 and (2) C6s with MSRC and won't own another Corvette without it. Had a base, F45, and Z51 C5s as well. MSRC is amazing. Ride can be stiffened when necessary and soft if you need that as well. I change the selector switch to Sport mode when backing out of a steep driveway to keep air dam from dragging, etc. . Based on what I've read about the C7 MSRC, it should be even better than the C6 system.

saw a writeup by a recent buyer of a C7 Z51 w/o MSRC. seemed ok to him. I'll find it and add it here; you can pm/em him.

can't find it: try this: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c7-g...s-non-z51.html

Having had a C5 Z51 and a C6 ZO6, both without MSRC, my C7 Z51 WILL have MSRC. I would not order a C7 without it.

Do you loose handling performance by not having MSRC on a Z51? Or do you just loose the ability to soften the ride?

I am also trying to learn more about MSRC as I have a car on order with Z51 and without MSRC. It is still at 1100, so I can change it.

IMO, the combined option price of the Z51 & MSRC is worth the features for the Z51 package by itself...
so add the MSRC as it's "free" in that respect...

Guys who get the Z51 without MRSC may tell you the ride is fine or smooth. My guess is that may be correct on mainly smooth roads, just like the C5/C6. On the roads that most of us drive on, with pot holes, broken/uneven pavement/expansion joints etc, MRSC is the only way to go unless you enjoy getting bounced and jarred around. My 06 C6 had it,my 10 GS doesn't as it wasn't available in the GS until 2011. I would have waited till 2011 if I knew it was going to be available. My main daily driver is a Cadillac CTS-V, which has MRSC, which has a fabulous ride. To me it's a no brainer. Get the MRSC.

Most likely true, but you won't know if you really needed it for your kind of driving, i.e., being without the option.

I'd like to drive a Z51 wo it to see how it drives. I have a C6 Z51 riding on 30 series tires up front and 25 series tires out back and it wasn't that bad.

I ordered it with the option because you can't just add it later and for the little extra I don't want to be kicking myself in the azz.

I went Z51 without MSCR. My C6 w/ Z51 didn't have it either. The ride truly didn't bother me one bit. I was never flying out of my seat and never thinking to myself "I'm going to have to visit the chiropractor after that bump." If I'm off-roading, I'll take the F150.

I'm interested in the answer to this question as well. I can probably live with a rougher ride, but I'd hate to give up any performance by not ordering it.

Thanks,
Rusty

I had a C6 with is as well and consider it a must have option.

Does it actually change the ride height?

Sure, you'll lose a bit of performance. The question that the hardcore track people will ask you is "how often do you plan on taking your car to the track?" Alot? Then it's probably worth the money. Once a year? Might be worth it. Never? Why even go Z51?

Yes I have a Z51 without Mag and drive only on pavement in the Atlanta area. I have not experience a harsh ride. But I have owned two Shelby GT500 and a Ford GT and this is what I am used to.
