I was so sure my 07' Z was going to keep me satisfied. Then yesterday I bumped into a Black 2014 Z51 with Red calipers. Dang, have you seen this car in person? It looks like a Ferrari but even better, its a Vette.

Thinking I will order a 2014 for Spring delivery and enjoy the new car. Then either mod for some extra HP or see what the General brings us for an encore

In the C7 tech section you will see how quickly the aftermarket guys are getting significant horsepower gains out of the LT1

In fact, what magical dyno is this? Even that Z06 is more then generous as well. Those numbers are, I'll dare to say, very misleading.

So assuming 505hp and 465whp, that's a staggering 8% drive train loss to make 465whp.

So at 8% drivetrain loss, that C7 is making 484hp.

8%? Really???
Dynos can be manipulated and everyone is different. Should only be used to tune.

If it makes a difference...the only reason I brought it up (the dyno comparison), is because I do have a C6Z and was thinking of trading.

lol that this thread turns into calling out respected vendors in an attempt to disparage the numbers they are posting for C7's.

It's even funnier when that vendor's Dynojet numbers are comparable to other vendors' Dynojet numbers for a C7.

I asked a question and got an answer. It's really that simple. I could be way off base, and will do some research tonight to educate myself on the topic.

Me personally, dynojet or not, I'd give someone a stink eye if they dyno'd my car and said it had 8% drivetrain loss but hey, everyone's different.

450-470rwhp stock in a z06 is pretty damn common.

Intake/headers/tune lt1 should be a solid z06 replacement.

The gains are nuts. Shows GM is bottling up the motor, probably to be able to increase HP in year 3 if sales slip. If these results prove to be consistent, I may have to change my mind. Trap speeds will tell the story.

Yes...Until the LT1 runs up against a Z with intake/headers/tune, as I'm sure you are aware.

I'll keep my Z at least until the high performance C7 is available. Then I'll reconsider.

It is pretty hilarious.

Many people figured GM was sandbagging on the LT1 factory output. I guess we are seeing proof just how much is left on the table with the LT1.

This will help get you started with your research. Lingenfelter provided this a week or two ago, all pulled on their Dynojet (at different times, of course). But all corrected to SAE on the same dyno.

What exactly would a shop that builds/sells high performance parts (like LG and Lingenfelter) have to gain by misrepresenting a baseline dyno number on the high side?

You should keep in mind that anyone trading to a C7 who would do intake, headers and tune, probably already has done the same to their C6Z.

Most people arguing about the power and track times don't race anyways. I rather have a nice car that drives much better than go around and brag about the extra 40hp. The c7 drives much better, is more comfy, and is a better car than a c6z IMO. If your goal is to strictly road race the Z maybe the better car, but for a car to drive around town I think it is not even a close comparison.

I own a c6z, but after driving a c7 I don't see how anyone would want to go back unless it was track only.

If people did not care about the extra power, and do not track their cars, then a lot of people would never buy a Z in the first place. The fact is that most C6Z owners DO care about the extra power.

I see your point, but don't agree.

In the tech section LG compared the header-equipped LT1 to the LS7 and the low end torque on the LT1 was far higher than the LS7.... it was impressive.

My .02. Wife and I had 07 and 09 Z's, now '13 ZR1, '13 427, 14 Z51. If you are a gearhead I would wait for a HiPo Stingray. The Stingray is awesome no question. Fit and Finish on ours is perfect. I feel as coddled in it (3LT) as I did in my 650xdrive ( which went bye bye for the 427). My preferred drive though is my 427. The nimbleness, power, and open air are winners. The Stingray is a techno geeks dream. Sitting in it is like being in a modern fighter jet, and the seats are fantastic. I have the dash slaved to the mode dial so when wife changes the mode the dash changes. She is like a moth to flame with the g meter, timers, and other see how fast you go teases. The Stingray as it is no doubt the best Corvette I have ever owned as an all around champ. When it gets the LT4/L88 and hopefully ceramic brakes to slow it down it will be the best period. Right now though the ZR1 is still the shot out of a cannon being bad ride, and the 427 has me daily. Wife in the meantime cant be gotten out of the Stingray.
