where will you service your C7?
I am planing to get the new C7, I have been asking myself this question. Where will I service it? I have currently a Pontiac Solstice GXP and I stopped going to GM dealers couple years ago. They do not know how to fix their cars, i tried many dealers and they are all the same. They always caused problem with the car even with something simple like changing a thermostat or caused a damage to the car.
I am not sure, GM dealers are trained and equipped to deal with a 60-70K car.
what is your plan?
Thanks
Alex

I plan on doing all oil changes/fluid changes, etc all myself. Anything major, like software related, mechanical problem(s) far beyond my capability, I will take it to the dealer only once I have confirmed there is a tech who is experienced and has a solid understanding of the workings of the C7.

You can't generalize, there are good dealers and bad dealers. Find one with experience and interview the service manager. I did that and have chosen a chain dealer: AutoNation Ft Lauderdale. My car will not see the dealer unless I need warranty work. I'll do the rest.

I don't care if maintenance is covered, no way the same guys servicing the Chevy Sparks are touching my car! I'll be doing the routine stuff myself as well. Just like I have on every car I've owned. It will be even more rewarding with this one!

I've got a local dealer with an outstanding service department and vette techs. If I need any work, they'll do it. They've been great to work with.

My gm world class tech is excellent. Join a local corvette show....and ask around. You'll get good insight which dealer techs to use.
Just like anything else....there are the great, the good and not so good in their respective fields.

I look into the service bay.
How many Vette's are there?
One? Nope not bringing my car in.
5 or more with a couple up on lifts? You have my business.
What's your allocation for new Vette's? 5? 19? 100?
If you're only getting a few I'll pass on your service department

Selling a lot does not mean they service a lot. We are a small dealer (31 employees and 9 of them are techs), however we service a large number of Corvettes. On average, we service 50-60 Corvettes per month and only sold 13 new Corvettes last year. There are larger dealers in a 150 mile radius that sell 200-300 per year and service less because their reputation for working on them is not good. Any dealer can sell a lot of Corvettes, but maintaining a good service record is the hard part.
We have 2 dedicated Corvette techs that typically will have their stalls full of Corvettes day in and day out.
I would recommend talking to a local dealer and meeting the employees there before judging a book by its cover.

A cross section of members of your local Corvette club(s) are an excellent source as to which dealer has a top notch service department. I plan on having mine serviced by my dealer at least while under warranty.
