My C7 chaos. What will GM do?
Hello everyone.
I have a sad story. My C7 has started to fall apart after just one day. I'm trying to be low drama and light humor here, but I'm quite upset on the inside. I was trying to break her in gentle and she still broke.
So.. Know that there were already fitment and paint issues that the dealer agreed to take care of in writing. so add to that the after delivery issues:
1. The A/c stopped working. #after 1 day!
2. The break pedal came loose! #after 1 day!
3.The rear end has started tracking funny. Think hydroplaning, but in dry low-speed corners #after 1 day
4. so I limp back to the dealership, and the first thing they tell me is they found a different window sticker for that car (VIN) with a different price on it (wtf?)
5. Which might explain some of the other confusion like the upgraded wheels on the window sticker I have really are not the wheels on the car after all. (wtf x2) (not that you can tell the difference on GM's website to really know since the dang pictures are so tiny.)
So, to those that have great cars, congrats. To those taking delivery soon, check off and test every button, dial, switch and line item on the window sticker. Look for paint bubbles and/or runs on the corners and identify panel gaps that don't line up correctly.
My opinion is the C7 needs to go back to quality control for a few more months.
Sure a few first run minor tweaks might pop-up, we all know that.. but this was too much. I asked for my money back. (did I mention the freakin' break pedal CAME LOOSE!!!)
GM will be onsite first thing Monday to evaluate. Will they refund me and take the car off to a lab someplace to dissect it?

Ouch...that's a tough one there. It looks like getting the production line trained and doing the job is a tough one.
I hate to say this...because I want no harm to come to the Corvette program, but I'd be compelled to collect the repeat offenses necessary to lemon law it and get another one. With that many qc issues, I don't know that I'd feel comfortable with the car long term, nor the inconvenience of having to monitor its health on a day to day basis/have it repaired, nor would I want to depend on newly trained techs at these dealers to handle the problems reliably.
I know if it were my money, I'd want a quality car. I'd lemon law it and demand another one...lol.

If the dealer sold you the car without the Michelin tires, you're really screwed. That car was designed around those tires.
Someone has some explaining to do about the the wheels are not factory.

This is why I dont want to buy a first year model. Second year of a generation, even first year of a hi-po model is fine, but the first year of a new generation is prone to bugs and is almost like a beta test for the car..

To the OP I am sure GM is going to get this fixed. They do not want unhappy customers.

I know some of you guys think this corvette has descended from heaven It boils
down to no more than a cheap expensive chevy. I've had several vettes and dang the
quality is not there. Ok they claim want to play with the big boys, well they are going
to have to come up with a different program.
The interior is a step up in design than the C6 BUT really look close I still see the
cheap plastic interior. No it is not the full custom leather and wood of fine
european cars. You guys seem to think your getting a bargain, in the $70,000
range is not a bargain for a chevy.
This guys car may just one of those exception that got the box of bad parts.
Hope he get a replacement or money back. He should not have to settle for
that kind of problems right off. Tell ya I had a Mark Vii, almost exactly
the same issue. They torn that car apart trying to fix it, they never did,
just caused more problems.

All the cars SHOULD be quality cars with an occasional blip. Man an awful lot of problems seem to be popping up, and not minor stuff either. Is it the first year bobbles or typical General bailout Motors?

Sorry to hear of your problems.
Concerning your fitment issues: be sure your dealer has read the paragraph in C7 sales training that relates to the fit where the bottom of the doors meet the rocker panels. The 1/2" step there is by design; trying to adjust it will cause misalignments elsewhere.
Concerning the price sticker: the window sticker on my car was $15 higher than the copy mailed to the dealer. Only because the one on the car showed a front plate mount, the other sticker didn't. All cars come with an aero panel for the grille that can be used as a plate mount. Front plate states also get a 50-state legal plate mount that fits up higher. Is your sticker totally different or is it just that?
Concerning upgraded wheels: if you are referring to the non-Z51 factory wheels the standard silver ones and the optional machine face version for $1495 look very similar. See post #27 in the thread here on CF titled "Anyone Got A Pic Of Machine Face Wheels On An Actual C7"?

I decided several weeks ago to wait at least a year before getting one. The whole car is new, new assembly process as well. People have to learn the process as well as getting the machines performing up to specs.

I bring it up because if they are not the M tires, they have some real explaining to do.
It's a total mystery why someone would go with "upgraded" wheels and leave the same tires on the car. What's the "upgrade" then? Looks? Usually upgrading wheels means changing to bigger or better rubber.
Why would you change the wheels if not to change the tires? Makes no sense.
I still think the dealer needs to explain to the OP why the wheels are not factory when it's obvious he didn't know.
