I had already bought these and are debating whether to install them. After looking at the tire protection, I don't think there are really needed to protect the rim as the tire sticks out pretty far, so it just comes down to appearance. Please respond to my poll honestly. I'm on the fence about what looks better.

Thanks,
Pookie

Very cool....I like them with. Where do I order those? I want to steal your idea. Do they have other colors? How much? What sizes do they make? Thanks

The can be ordered here:

http://www.alloygator.co.uk/

I used TESLA10 and got 10% off, but that was several weeks ago.

I have no affiliation with them in any way.

Here is another thread with more details I started a while ago. It seems that the Alloy Gators were the superior product based on the feedback I recieved.

They help separate the wheel from the tire. Not nearly as bulky looking. Great idea!

Not my cup of tea, but then neither are black wheels on a car.

If you like it, then do it. That's all that matters.

It's not even close, the gators hands down. It really makes your calipers pop as well. I like it a lot.

They actually look pretty good. How hard would they be to replace if you did get too close to a curb and scuffed them?

Those take me back to the sixty's when the redline tires were the rage. I had them on my red 67 Olds 442. Bottom line, I voted they look good with the black rims as long as the red is a close match to the red calipers.

The alloygater concept may even work with the base painted wheel. Chrome, not so sure.

I think the black wheels need them. I don't know why GM decided to not include some sort of offset lip/ring/whatever on the black wheels. They did keep the silver lip on the 96 Grand Sport and it set the black wheel off from the black tire. They are just too different to be right next to each other.

I like the concepts of the Alloy Gators, but now sure if I'd use them. Curious as to if they would become an issue during a track event. I suspect many tracks may not allow them.

I haven't installed them yet, these are just photoshop pics.
It says it takes only 1 hour for the whole car. You need a jack and need to deflate the tires.

They come with a tool that scrapes off just a little to make them shiny again.

I went and held them up to the car, they look like a perfect match! So if you have red calipers and like the look, go ahead and order them.
